It looks like the left-wing Democratic talking points have officially gone out regarding the horrific shooting of two National Guard troops in Washington, D.C., on Friday. Democrats are already locking in on a unified narrative — not focusing on the shooter, not focusing on the city’s crime problem, but blaming Trump for deploying the Guard to D.C. in the first place.
This is so tragic, so unnecessary, these poor guardsmen should never have been deployed. I live in DC and watched as they had virtually nothing to do but pick up trash. It was for political show and at what a cost. https://t.co/ABkOHNHAvG

If you want to see how badly she got ratioed for that thoughtless POS statement, click on the tweet and check out the responses. You won’t be disappointed. But that’s the talking point, apparently, as senseless and as stupid as it is.
Your argument is that it’s the fault of those who deployed them, who are responsible for their being attacked.

You may have a different opinion about the deployment, but the deployment itself isn’t the reason for the shooting…unless you’re implying that it is. I believe this is the underlying concern that has many progressives repeating the same arguments today.
Then there’s this jerk:
It’s honestly sickening. These National Guard troops were only in Washington, DC because Trump fabricated a need for them. And now he’ll twist this tragedy into another excuse to flood American cities with even more military presence.
This never should’ve happened. Those troops… pic.twitter.com/T8dPu6v22W

He’s truly reinforcing this point. If the National Guard hadn’t been deployed, a crazed individual wouldn’t have opened fire on them. Therefore, it’s unequivocally Trump’s responsibility. That’s their argument, and there’s no question about it.
I don’t know why they were shot at, but this stuff certainly didn’t happen when the military wasn’t placed within American cities. They are being used as props by the Trump administration.

Could it be — just maybe — that the shooter is the real problem here? That the responsibility lies with the individual who pulled the trigger and whatever drove him to commit this attack? Of course not. In the Democrats’ worldview, it can only be Trump — and anyone who had the audacity to help him.

Journalist and former Marine Caleb Howe noted:
So odd to see media and Democrats speaking in one voice, echoing the same talking points, sharing the same hot takes, using the same words after a major event as if they all read from the same hymnal. Oh well I’m sure it’s a coincidental one time thing.
And by the way, there’s no denying the obvious: crime in D.C. has dropped dramatically since the National Guard and additional law enforcement were deployed. The results speak for themselves — which is precisely why Democrats don’t want to talk about them:
DC’s own crime statistics show big drops this year for all violent crime compared to the same time last year (last year’s numbers had already dropped compared to 2023).
- Homicide is down 28%.
- Sex abuse is down 37%.
- Assault with a dangerous weapon is down 11%.
- Robbery is down 35%.
- Total violent crime is down 28%.
- Burglary is down 27%.
- Motor vehicle theft is down 19%.
- Total property crime is down 13%.
It’s all good news. You’d probably be hearing a lot more about it if Trump weren’t involved.
Trump receives no acknowledgment for the decrease in crime, yet is held entirely responsible for the actions of a disturbed individual who is targeting Guard members. That’s the way things operate. In the meantime, take a look at how individuals on the left have treated them before today:

There is a legitimate “shouldn’t have been there” argument — the one that applies to criminal illegal aliens who never should have been in this country to begin with. But we all know how the left treats that point. They dismiss it outright. They don’t care about it at all — not even a little.
How is that relevant? Well, here’s the latest:
The Afghan national accused of shooting two National Guard members blocks from the White House worked with various United States government entities, including the CIA, as a member of a partner force in Afghanistan, Fox News Digital has learned.
Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, entered the United States on the heels of the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021 under the Biden administration. Lakanwal arrived in the U.S. a month later under “Operation Allies Welcome.”
“The suspect who shot our brave National Guardsmen is an Afghan national who was one of the many unvetted, mass paroled into the United States under Operation Allies Welcome on September 8, 2021, under the Biden Administration,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said on Friday.
The Biden Administration let this terrorist into the country as part of their Operation Allies Welcome program on September 8, 2021. This program let in thousands of unvetted Afghan nationals including terrorists into our country.
We will keep the public apprised as more information becomes available.
Bottom line: this looks like an ambush — potentially even an act of terrorism. But instead of waiting for facts, identifying the perpetrator, or understanding the motive, the left’s reflexive instinct is to point the finger at the president. It’s disgusting behavior in the wake of a targeted attack on American Guardsmen. And it’s not just a handful of loud accounts doing it — countless smaller progressive voices are parroting the same narrative in lockstep.
