Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) is furious over the news that his fellow Arizona Democrat, Sen. Mark Kelly, is now under investigation by the Department of War for appearing in a video urging service members to defy orders from their superiors. And he’s not just angry — he’s practically issuing threats against anyone involved in the investigation.
A statement from the Department of War released on Monday indicated that Kelly is facing “serious allegations of misconduct” and that further actions against him are being contemplated, which may include a possible court-martial or other “administrative measures.”
In a CNN interview, Gallego cautioned service members that once President Trump departs from office, “there will be consequences” for anyone involved in military actions connected to the investigation.
“Donald Trump is going to be gone in a couple of years,” he said. “And if you’re part of the military that is going after sitting senators, sitting members of Congress, and part of the weaponization of government, there will be consequences, without a doubt.”
Gallego took things a step further, proposing that military personnel would have to be cautious after the Commander-in-Chief’s departure from office.
“I think there’s going to be a lot of officers that’ll be part of this potential tribunal, if they want to call it that, they’re going to be looking over their shoulders,” he said. “Because they know that Donald Trump will be gone and they will not have that protection.”

Gallego then proceeded to recite the same canned lines from the infamous video, insisting that service members must “follow the Constitution.” But he couldn’t stick to the script without sliding into thinly veiled threats — warning of “consequences,” hinting officials should be “looking over their shoulders,” and suggesting investigators “will not have that protection.”
Sure, he says, just follow the law — wink, wink. As long as you follow his interpretation of it, everything will be fine. “They’re going to have to do the safest thing possible, which is follow the Constitution of the United States, and you’ll be fine,” he said.
Okay, well that includes following the orders of their superiors who must also follow the orders of the commander-in-chief, who happens to be President Trump. And since none of these Democrat fools who called on service members to defy him can name a single order Trump has given that is unlawful, anyone encouraging current service members to defy the CinC are fomenting sedition and should be held accountable for it.
As for Gallego, there’s no real ambiguity here. Gallego, a former Marine who should know better, is openly warning investigators that there will be repercussions if they “go after” Kelly or enforce any punishment.
What Gallego said to the military really pisses me off. You don’t threaten service members just because some of them support Trump. That’s not leadership, and it’s not what a member of Congress should be doing. His job is to represent the country, not intimidate the people who…
