Democrats just can’t quit Donald Trump. If you lived in one of the states or cities that held elections in 2025 — or frankly, if you’ve had a pulse for the last decade — you already know their entire message still begins and ends with him. Trump consumes their every waking thought. He’s the centerpiece of their campaign speeches, their fundraising emails, and their fear-mongering ads.
In a party that’s run out of ideas and been hijacked by socialists and far-left ideologues, “We hate Trump” remains the only pitch they can muster for the American people.
Democrats’ obsession with Trump was on full display in Virginia this year, where GOP gubernatorial candidate Winsome Earle-Sears was relentlessly branded a Trump loyalist — a laughable claim given that she publicly urged the party to move past Trump after he launched his 2022 campaign, and Trump pointedly did not endorse her.
Earle-Sears was hardly a MAGA standard-bearer, and some argue that distancing herself from Trump may have hurt her with parts of the base. But Democrats didn’t care about nuance; they stuck to their script and plastered her with the Trump label anyway.
They simply can’t quit him — even when the facts don’t fit the narrative.
In their drive to extend the shelf life of Trump-centric politics, Democrats are already scouting for a fresh “boogeyman” to carry them through the 2026 midterms. Trump will absolutely remain central to their messaging — they’ll run against him as long as they can draw breath — but even they understand he won’t be a forever foil.
So, according to one report, they’ve settled on a new target: Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
That’s right — rather than articulate a positive vision, offer substantive policy ideas, or address the everyday concerns of voters, Democrats appear ready to elevate RFK Jr. into their next mustache-twirling supervillain:

Let’s be real: Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s greatest offense, in the eyes of Democrats, isn’t anything he’s done as Health and Human Services secretary. It’s that he left the Democratic Party — and then committed the unpardonable sin of teaming up with Donald Trump. To the modern Left, that’s treason of the highest order.
In their worldview, no one defects from the family dynasty that built the Democratic machine. And if you do? You’re exiled forever.
So now Kennedy is destined to spend the rest of his career as a political heretic, treated like a pariah by the same party his relatives once defined. But Democrats aren’t content just to shun him — they’re gearing up to weaponize his work at HHS as their latest political bludgeon:
They’re banking on voters associating Kennedy with disease outbreaks and rising insurance costs rather than his more popular criticisms of pharmaceutical companies and focus on nutrition and wellness. As both parties seek to build coalitions ahead of the midterms, public views of Kennedy — and how candidates position themselves in opposition to him — could make a difference in key races that will decide control of Congress.
There’s real risk in Democrats going all-in against Kennedy. Like it or not, he’s built a genuinely cross-partisan coalition around his Make America Health Again (MAHA) agenda. And the MAHA moms — a fast-growing political force — aren’t exactly a group you want to antagonize for the sake of cheap midterm talking points. These are voters who’ve mobilized online to demand the removal of artificial dyes, seed oils, and other junk ingredients from America’s food supply. They’re organized, they’re passionate, and they’ve found a fierce ally in Kennedy.
If Democrats think they can smear him without alienating a large swath of health-conscious suburban moms — many of whom they desperately need in competitive districts — they may be in for a rude awakening.
We already know at least one Democrat is gearing up to make RFK Jr. a punching bag in 2026: his own cousin, Jack Schlossberg. Fresh off announcing his bid to replace retiring Rep. Jerry Nadler (NY-12), Schlossberg is leaning hard into the family feud, signaling that going after Kennedy will be a centerpiece of his campaign:
JFK's grandson Jack Schlossberg: "President Trump is so obsessed with the Kennedys and the Kennedy name that he caged one and put in his cabinet— a rabid dog in his cabinet. Put a collar on my cousin RFK Jr and has him there barking, spreading lies and misinformation." pic.twitter.com/z0MdbSJ0lc

At the very least, this’ll be a fun election cycle.
