President Donald Trump weighed in on the two Indiana Republicans who helped derail the state’s redistricting push ahead of next year’s midterms — and, unsurprisingly, he didn’t mince words. Trump made clear he’s not impressed with GOP lawmakers who obstruct efforts to strengthen Republican maps, especially at a time when Democrats are aggressively carving out advantages wherever they can – just like Democrats have done for decades.
Indiana’s Republican Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray announced earlier this week that the GOP-controlled chamber would not return in December to vote on redistricting — a move that immediately drew the ire of Trump.
Bray, along with state Sen. Greg Goode (R), became the focus of Trump’s criticism as he blasted their “politically correct” cowardice and accused them of folding at the mere thought of tackling a tough redistricting fight.
“Very disappointed in Indiana State Senate Republicans, led by RINO Senators Rod Bray and Greg Goode, for not wanting to redistrict their State, allowing the United States Congress to perhaps gain two more Republican seats,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social media platform.
He rightly notes that Democrats have played this game for decades — carving up maps to cement their political power without a hint of hesitation. But when it’s the GOP’s turn to push back and use the same tools to protect their voters, too many Republicans suddenly lose their nerve and retreat into the same old timid, self-defeating playbook.
“Because of these two politically correct type ‘gentlemen,’ and a few others, they could be depriving Republicans of a Majority in the House,” Trump said, adding, correctly, that in a highly contentious midterm race to control Congress amounts to “a very big deal!”
Trump added: “California is trying to pick up five seats, and no one is complaining about that,” he continued. “It’s weak ‘Republicans’ that cause our Country such problems — It’s why we have crazy Policies and Ideas that are so bad for America.”

The president also called out Gov. Mike Braun (R) for ” not working the way he should to get the necessary votes.” But Braun, for his part, has expressed his frustration with his own party balking at this once-in-a-generation opportunity.
“I called for our legislators to convene to ensure Hoosiers’ voices in Washington, D.C., are not diluted by the Democrats’ gerrymandering,” Braun said. “Our state senators need to do the right thing and show up to vote for fair maps. Hoosiers deserve to know where their elected officials stand on important issues.”
He’s right. So is Trump. The time is now. Democrats are playing for keeps. Republicans should as well.
