Sen. John Kennedy is a gem — no, a whole treasure chest of them. A bona fide national treasure. If this whole political career ever stops working out for him, he’s got a guaranteed second act waiting in stand-up comedy.
Kennedy of Louisiana had some classic Kennedy-style commentary about Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. As usual, he managed to sum up the Democratic Party’s internal power struggle with that perfect mix of sharp insight and razor-edged humor during an appearance on Will Cain Country.
Cain asked Kennedy about the growing civil war on the left — the split between the handful of Democrats who broke ranks to reopen the government and the furious resistance extremists who wanted the shutdown to drag on forever. Kennedy didn’t disappoint.
“There’s something about this government reopening that has completely divided the left,” Cain noted.
“Senator Schumer gambled, and he lost, and he’s kind of walking around now looking like a guy who just lost his luggage,” Kennedy responded. “He did this to try to make the Bolshevik wing, which is in control of his party like him, love him, and now they’re madder than ever at him.”
That Bolshevik wing — or the “socialist wing,” as Kennedy later calls it — is the faction led by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). Kennedy points out that AOC is probably oblivious to just how much she and her party hurt ordinary Americans during the shutdown. Then again, you could fill entire libraries with the things the former bartender doesn’t know.
The senator also predicts that AOC has some very big ambitions. Maybe she’ll try to take out fellow Democrat Hakeem Jeffries to snag the speakership if her party wins big in the midterms. Maybe she’ll set her sights on Schumer’s Senate seat. Or — God help the republic — maybe she’s gearing up for a presidential run.
Kennedy notes that old Chuck is downright terrified at the thought of New York’s socialist darling sinking her claws into his Senate seat.
“There are a lot of Democrats, one of whom I think is Senator Schumer, who understand that, uh, the loon wing of his party are a bunch of loons. But, I think he’s scared of them,” Kennedy posited. “I think his testicles are on back order from China.”
Oh. My. God. I’m dying.

You see now why we call Kennedy a comedic genius? Will Cain was practically doubled over after that line.
The senator went on to explain that AOC smells blood in the water. She sees that her brand of extremism isn’t confined to the liberal swamp of the Bronx and Queens anymore — it’s spreading, as shown by the recent election of Zohran Mamdani as New York City mayor.
Still, Kennedy says she’s fundamentally a media creation — and not exactly a deep or intellectual one at that.
“They love her like the devil loves sin, man. I mean, they just uh—and I get why,” Kennedy observed. “She’s attractive. She’s pretty articulate on television. She’s bold in her statements. But I’ve never heard anybody describe her as a policy maven.”
Then he delivered this LOL line: “My experience with her is if you scratch the surface, you just get more surface.”
If you dig deeper into AOC, you don’t find substance — just more void. She’s empty, vapid, and about as intellectually deep as a kiddie pool. But the larger point still stands: this power struggle is heading toward an ugly end for the Democratic Party — and by extension, for the country.
Schumer, a relic of the old guard, is on the verge of being replaced as his party grows tired of his inability to navigate the Trump era. Nancy Pelosi, another aging fixture of Democratic politics, is shuffling off into retirement. And politicians like Hakeem Jeffries don’t stand a chance of keeping the party’s growing band of extremists in check.
God help the republic if they ever take full power.
