What a surprise John Fetterman has turned out to be. I’ll say it again: I’d never vote for the guy — not in a million years — but he’s one of the very few Democrats who doesn’t bow to the party’s lunatic fringe. And he clearly couldn’t care less what Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer thinks about anything.
Fetterman voted repeatedly with Republicans to end the shutdown because he could see what the rest of his party refused to admit: there was no strategy, no message, no endgame. He’s also not about to call the president or his supporters Nazis — the new hobby of the liberal elite.
And while there were very real concerns about his recovery after the massive stroke he suffered during the 2022 midterms, he’s shown he has more common sense than most of his caucus combined. He also sees straight through the media’s tired game of painting Trump as some looming “dictator” — a script they’ve run into the ground.
Katie Couric, the once-celebrated Today Show host, tried that stunt on him recently, and it blew up in her face:
FETTERMAN: I think at this point right now, we are not in an autocracy. We’re in a democracy.
COURIC: Would you concede that some of the things that he is doing are clearly anti-democratic and also are potentially even unconstitutional?
FETTERMAN: We happen to have a different view of these things. I don’t call people fascists or Nazis or compare people to Hitler.

What’s hilarious is that none of these pretend journalists have ever actually lived under a dictatorship or an autocratic government, much less real Nazis or fascists. President Trump can’t do anything without some left-wing group taking him to court, and that includes his absolute authority as commander-in-chief of the armed forces.
As for Fetterman, well, he’d better watch out. His words of sanity and tempered Democrat style will surely get him primaried in 2028 by some lunatic AOC knockoff.
