Democrats – and Democrats’ staff – do love their illegal immigrants more than they do their own citizen constituents, don’t they?
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed Wednesday that a staffer working for Illinois Democrat Sen. Tammy Duckworth impersonated an immigration attorney in an outrageous attempt to spring an illegal alien from custody — an individual who’s been deported to Mexico four times and has a drunk driving conviction on his record.
According to a letter sent Wednesday to Sen. Tammy Duckworth’s office — and obtained exclusively by Fox News — ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons said the senator’s staffer falsely claimed to be the attorney representing 40-year-old illegal alien Jose Ismeal Ayuzo Sandoval.
The letter details how the staffer entered an ICE facility in East St. Louis, Illinois, on October 29:
At approximately 1:29 p.m., an individual identified as Edward York, who, according to publicly available information, is employed as a Constituent Outreach Coordinator for your Senate office, entered the field office lobby, and in a discussion with a federal officer, claimed to be Mr. Ayuzo’s attorney. Mr. York demanded to speak with his “client.”
But wait, there’s more.
While at the ICE field office, the staffer — identified as York — wasn’t just granted access to meet with the illegal alien, Jose Ismeal Ayuzo Sandoval. He actually managed to get Sandoval to sign a G-28 form, the official document that designates an attorney to represent a client in immigration proceedings. That form also gives the attorney the authority to receive government correspondence and speak to federal agencies on the client’s behalf.
But according to the letter, after securing a release order, York then tried to file the same form without Sandoval’s signature — despite having personally completed it in the facility.
In addition, per the letter:
Four days later, a Suarez Law Office in Collinsville, Illinois filed a G-28 electronically that did not have Mr. Ayuzo’s signature, even though Mr. York, who claimed to work for the law firm, had already obtained a signed form. It appears as if Mr. York may have collaborated with the firm to cover his misrepresentation.
Uh…maybe??
The big question now is whether this staffer went rogue or was acting under orders from Sen. Tammy Duckworth herself — and let’s be honest, that’s not exactly a far-fetched scenario. Democrats have made it abundantly clear how eager they are to spring illegal aliens from custody whenever they can.
Duckworth has a long record of defending illegal immigrants while attacking the very agencies tasked with enforcing immigration law. She’s repeatedly criticized ICE and called for investigations into their enforcement tactics — all while pushing policies that make it harder to detain or deport those here illegally.
Lyons is sick of the political games being played by Democrats to shield illegal aliens:
I implore all members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, as well as their staff, to stop the political games that put law enforcement and detainees at risk.
It is my sincere hope that you will advocate on behalf of your constituents who have been victimized by illegal alien crime and work with DHS to remove these criminals from the United States.
Good luck with that, Mr. Acting Director. Sure, a few Democrat lawmakers might nod politely and pretend to care about enforcing the law, but we all know how this story goes. Their party has shown us time and again that they’ll say one thing and do the exact opposite. And if history’s any guide, we’re only going to see more of the same — more lawlessness, more excuses, and more loyalty to illegal aliens over American citizens.
And in case you were wondering, no – Duckworth did not respond to Fox News’ request for a comment.
