Democrats are absolutely giddy right now — and in their minds, they’re back on top. After decades of inching further and further left, they’ve finally crowned their dream candidate: a full-blown socialist who doesn’t even bother to hide it. His name is Zohran Mamdani, and for the far-left wing of the Democratic Party, this is their victory lap.
The Ugandan-born, silver-spoon socialist who’s never held a real job — and no, his failed rap career doesn’t count — is now the mayor of New York City, the financial capital of the world. Zohran Mamdani, the Left’s shiny new mascot, has openly championed ideas that sound ripped straight from a Marxist handbook: seizing the means of production, turning private property into communal housing, defunding the police, creating government-run grocery stores, and making public transit “free” (translation: paid for by everyone else).
Even more unsettling, he’s an unapologetic Islamist who’s claimed that the real victims of 9/11 were Muslims — a grotesque insult to the thousands of innocent Americans who lost their lives that day.
Up until now, the one thin strand of comfort was the assumption that Mamdani’s extremism would be checked by reality — that tax policy is set at the state level and his agenda would have to crawl through a large city council first. But here’s the problem: Democrats don’t stand up to radicals anymore. They cave, every single time. The party that once claimed to be “for the people” now bows to whoever shouts “revolution” the loudest.
Per the New York Post:
“So long as some of the new revenue would be applied to tax relief for working-class New Yorkers, I’m open to very modest increases on millionaires,” said state Sen. James Skoufis (D-Orange) from the Hudson Valley.
He did not comment specifically on the proposed tax increase on corporations.
Sen. Liz Krueger (D-Manhattan), who chairs the powerful finance committee and endorsed Mamdani in September, said she’s keeping an open mind.

The problem with hoping “normal” Democrats will step in to rein in Zohran Mamdani is simple — there are no normal Democrats left. The party of moderates is extinct. What’s left are the radicals, and those too afraid to cross them. Mamdani’s victory wasn’t just another blue-city election win — it was a warning shot. The laughably named “Democratic Socialists of America” now hold real power inside the Democratic Party, and they’ve proven they can make or break anyone who gets in their way.
If the party establishment couldn’t stop Mamdani from winning in the first place, what makes anyone think they’ll stop him from ruling by fear now? He’s not just pulling the party further left — he’s putting their heads on the political chopping block and daring anyone to resist.
So let’s dispense with the fantasy that New York’s state-level Democrats are going to hold the line. They won’t. They’ll fall in line, as they always do, because their careers depend on it. That includes Gov. Kathy Hochul, who will need Mamdani’s far-left coalition to survive her 2026 re-election fight against Elise Stefanik. Translation: the tax hikes are coming, and so are the bloated, utopian programs that will waste them.
This is what happens when you let the camel’s nose under the tent — before long, the entire beast is inside, tearing the place apart. The far left operates like a virus, infecting everything it touches until it consumes the host. Mamdani is their beachhead in the nation’s largest city, and now the reinforcements are on the way. Weak, careerist Democrats will fold, just like they always do. And the city’s voters — the same ones who cheered the socialist revolution — are about to find out what it really costs when the mob gets its pound of flesh.
In short, New York appears to be done in terms of its political future. But the good news is, ‘democratic socialism’ only plays well in certain parts of the country. Most of America still remains proudly capitalist – and now, Democrats are stuck with Mamdani and the brutal, crippling socialism he will impose on NYC.
They say be careful what you ask for…you just might get it.
