The steaming, hypocritical, hyperbolic heap of hysteria otherwise known as the modern Democratic Party continues its descent into political farce as the Schumer Shutdown drags on. The very same Democrat senators who hold the key to reopening the government and getting America moving again have now voted against doing so an almost comically fitting thirteen times — a Halloween-appropriate number for a party haunted by its own failures.
Instead of solving problems, they’ve packed up and waltzed out of Washington, leaving federal workers and taxpayers twisting in the wind.
While most of these smug Democrat cretins are wealthy enough to stock up on gourmet ramen and imported mushrooms to ride out the Schumer Shutdown, their constituents aren’t so lucky. The very people Democrats love to parade as victims of Republican “cruelty” are the ones now facing the loss of government lifelines at midnight — thanks entirely to their own representatives’ thirteen “NAY” votes and counting.
House Republicans voted to keep the government open, maintain basic services, and ensure families could put food on the table. Meanwhile, 210 House Democrats voted against it. In the Senate, all but three Democrats have voted thirteen straight times to block a clean Continuing Resolution.
Now, as the clock ticks toward midnight, critical programs like SNAP are set to expire — and suddenly, Democrats are pretending to care. The airwaves are filled with outrage from beneficiaries and grandstanding from the likes of AOC, who’s firing off angry letters to President Trump demanding he pay out the very benefits her party just voted to cut off. The hypocrisy is breathtaking — even by Washington standards. Thought Democrats were all about “No Kings!”

Sometimes Democrats just need a gentle reminder of what they’ve done — and what they’re still doing.
While the spotlight has been on the more headline-grabbing fallout of the Schumer Shutdown, another sacred cow of the Democratic Party has quietly slipped into jeopardy: Head Start. For decades, this program has been one of their most beloved pet projects — a political shield and a bludgeon rolled into one. Every time Republicans talk about fiscal responsibility or trimming waste, Democrats clutch their pearls and accuse them of wanting to “hurt children.”
But here’s the kicker: it’s Democrats who are now choking off funding for Head Start, the very program they’ve long held up as untouchable. Their favorite talking point — that Head Start is “for the children” — rings pretty hollow when they’re the ones voting to shut it down.
When President Trump merely suggested trimming Head Start subsidies back in April, the Democrats absolutely lost it. You’d have thought he’d proposed outlawing oxygen. The long knives came out instantly to defend their sacred daycare program, the crown jewel of liberal social spending.
Leading the charge was Rep. Nikema Williams of Georgia’s 5th District, who launched into a full-blown tirade, accusing Trump of waging an “ATTACK” on marginalized communities:
Georgia families rely on #HeadStart for affordable childcare and quality education. Trump’s plan to eliminate it will leave a gaping hole in early education and is a direct attack on equal opportunity for our most marginalized communities.
Our children deserve a strong start.…

The congresswoman from Ohio’s OH-03, Joyce Beatty – ‘Trump’s reckless and heartless’ to the children.
Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement in response to reports that President Trump may eliminate Head Start funding in his upcoming budget request:
“President Trump’s plan to eliminate Head Start—after 60 years of proven success helping children and families thrive—is yet another reckless and heartless attack on Ohio’s working families, children, and future.
Deborah Ross, the Democrat from NC-02 in Raleigh, NC, told Axios something very similar:
…Why it matters: More than 790,000 children, through age 5, rely on Head Start for learning, meals and health care services, per a Wednesday report from the liberal Center for American Progress.
Zoom in: Around 20,500 Head Start students in North Carolina are funded through federal grants, according to Head Start’s own tallies from 2022.
- North Carolina’s 2nd Congressional District, which is represented by Rep. Deborah Ross, a Democrat, is one of the largest recipients of Head Start funding, according to CAP.
- Eleven Head Start grants worth $134 million are administered from Ross’ district.
What they’re saying: “Head Start is the reason tens of thousands of children in North Carolina can get the support they need at a critical stage of life,” Ross said in a statement to Axios.
-
“Our state is already facing a devastating childcare crisis. Now, President Trump wants to eliminate this essential program, terminating federal nutrition, family support, health care, and early childhood education assistance for the most vulnerable kids in our state.”
-
Shuttering the program would be “catastrophic,” says Casey Peeks, senior director of Early Childhood Policy at CAP.
And so on.
So isn’t it just a little strange that the same Democrats who once screamed about the “catastrophic” consequences of even modest Head Start cuts are now dead silent as the program literally runs out of money at midnight — thanks to their own Schumer Shutdown? Not a word. Not a peep. The outrage machine that usually fires on all cylinders has gone suspiciously quiet.
It’s almost as if the moral panic only shows up when there’s a Republican to blame.
