Politicians lie — that’s hardly breaking news. But most at least make some effort to keep their falsehoods within the realm of plausibility.
Gavin Newsom, however, takes it to another level. He lies with ease and swagger, fully aware that as a Democrat, the media will never hold him accountable or challenge the tall tales he tells. It’s the kind of arrogance that only comes from knowing you’ll always get a free pass.
This latest tale is just one more entry in Newsom’s long catalog of self-aggrandizing fables — and it perfectly illustrates the blend of dishonesty and narcissism that defines him. It’s worth keeping track of every one of these stories, because Newsom clearly has his sights set on the White House in 2028.
His newest claim? That he walked into a restaurant and moved the staff to tears — literally. According to Newsom, the employees were so overcome by his mere presence that they started sobbing:

“This is chilling,” Newsom said. “This is serious. I walked into a restaurant the other day. The entire staff came out and started hugging me, crying. What the hell is that? The United States of America. What he’s doing to our diverse communities, what he’s doing to the fabric of our society.”
We can only assume the “he” Newsom is referring to is President Trump — since Newsom clearly believes he’ll be running against him in 2028. We’ll let him cling to that fantasy.
But if this dramatic restaurant scene really happened, where’s the evidence? No video, no photos, not even a witness account — just Newsom’s word, which, let’s be honest, isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. This is the same guy who, in September on Stephen Colbert’s show, gaslit the few people who still watch Colbert by saying he doesn’t think there will be an election in 2028 – before telling CBS he’s gonna run for president in 2028.
Like…what??
Newsom couldn’t care less about proving anything. In his mind, this story paints him as some kind of political messiah — the savior America has been waiting for.
He’s not. Not even close.
