Adam Schiff Gets Another Dose Of BAD News From Trump’s DOJ

As reported in July and reiterated since, the Federal Housing Finance Agency issued a criminal referral to the Department of Justice involving Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA), raising serious questions about possible mortgage fraud.

Schiff completely melted down over the referral. In a nearly five-minute video released shortly after the news broke, he went on a full-blown rant, accusing President Donald Trump of “targeting” him for political revenge.

So what’s the latest on the Schiff case?

According to a report pushed by MSNBC’s Ken Dilanian on Thursday, things weren’t looking great for the cause of justice. He noted:

Exclusive with @CarolLeonnig: The federal prosecutor in charge of investigating whether Sen. Adam Schiff should be charged with mortgage fraud recently told her bosses in Washington she did not think the case was strong enough to move forward, two sources familiar with the matter…

He said:

The federal prosecutor in charge of investigating whether Sen. Adam Schiff should be charged with mortgage fraud recently told her bosses in Washington she did not think the case was strong enough to move forward, two sources familiar with the matter told MSNBC.

A third person familiar with the matter said the case is continuing to be investigated.

Kelly Hayes, the U.S. Attorney in Maryland, met in recent days with Todd Blanche, the deputy Attorney General, to update him on the Schiff case, the three people said.

Hayes, an experienced federal prosecutor, told Blanche she did not think the case against Schiff was strong, two people said. The two said Ed Martin, a controversial senior Justice Department official, is pressing to keep the case alive.

Within hours, every liberal outlet was parroting it as if it were gospel.

Later, Dilanian clarified a point, noting that MSNBC had split from NBC and that he was citing “former colleagues” at the network for his information — not exactly a confidence booster.

He also circulated a statement from Schiff’s attorney, former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara:

“It seems pretty clear that a team of career prosecutors have thoroughly reviewed the politically-motivated allegations against Senator Schiff and found they are unsupported by any evidence and are baseless. The transparently vindictive effort to pursue the Senator has no merit, and if there is any justice left in the Justice Department, this should be the end of the matter.”

But there was just one small problem with Dilanian’s big scoop — it wasn’t true. Blanche came out and flatly debunked the entire thing, saying the supposed meeting “never happened.” He tweeted:

Breaking: @DilanianMSNBC reports on a recent meeting that never happened. Can you ask your two “sources” for more info? I’m genuinely curious. Excited to hear more about this made-up meeting! Also, unequivocally: U.S. Attorney Hayes has told me no such thing.

“Can you ask your two ‘sources’ for more info?” Blanche clapped back. “I’m genuinely curious. Excited to hear more about this made-up meeting! Also, unequivocally: U.S. Attorney Hayes has told me no such thing.”

Whoops — so much for that narrative. Even NBC’s own reporting quietly admitted that the case against Schiff is still ongoing, according to their sources.

So if the Left thought they had a lifeline here, and Schiff thought he could spin the story to his advantage, Todd Blanche crushed that fantasy in record time. One statement from the Deputy Attorney General, and the whole charade collapsed.

Justice for Schiff’s years of weaponizing government for his own left-wing purposes appears to still be on the table.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
