It’s Day 20 of the Schumer Shutdown — and Donald Trump is coming out on top. Don’t just take my word for it — even CNN is admitting that this Democrat-led standoff hasn’t dented the former president’s approval ratings. In fact, they’ve gone up.
CNN’s own data analyst, Harry Enten, broke down the numbers and acknowledged that when it comes to public perception, “it’s a different world” — one that’s looking better and better for the Trump White House. Despite Democrats’ attempts to pin the blame on him, it’s clear their shutdown strategy is backfiring.
This is not how Democrats expected things to go. They assumed Trump would eventually fold — a laughable idea to anyone who’s been paying attention. There was never a chance he’d bow to Chuck Schumer and “Temu Obama.”
Democrats triggered this shutdown to strong-arm another $1.5 trillion for illegal alien healthcare and handouts like NPR funding — a political shakedown disguised as “governing.” The problem? Voters didn’t want a shutdown, and they certainly didn’t want more reckless spending. Democrats managed to give them both, and on issues that couldn’t be more unpopular.

Of course, the liberal media rushed to declare that Democrats had “won” the messaging war early on — but that claim doesn’t hold up to reality. Republicans were the ones pushing for a clean continuing resolution, the very thing Democrats usually demand.
The proposal was straightforward: a seven-week extension with funding at existing Biden-era levels. The goal was simply to buy time for Congress to finalize the remaining appropriations bills and address the expiring Obamacare subsidies before December.
In other words, Republicans offered stability and responsibility — and Democrats responded with obstruction and theatrics.
