Appearing on Fox News this morning, President Donald Trump tore into Democratic lawmakers for dragging out the government shutdown now entering its 19th day. He accused them of being driven not by policy or principle, but by pure hatred of him — what he called “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
Trump pointed out in an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that Democratic lawmakers, in their rush to force a shutdown, seem to have forgotten a key fact — the president still holds the power to cut or suspend programs while the government is closed.
“We have a deal. We just want an extension. And the reason we want an extension is because you can’t make a deal with these people. They’re lunatics. They’re gone crazy. They’re crazed people. Trump derangement syndrome. There really is that disease,” Trump said.

“At first, I found it to be amusing. Now, I find there really is – they want $1.5 trillion for health care for illegal aliens. If we do that, it will jeopardize the health care of the citizens of our country. So we’re not going to do that,” he went on.

Just for clarification, as if you didn’t already know this, but…there were ‘NO KINGS’ in the U.S. before these ridiculous protests, and there are ‘NO KINGS’ in the U.S. after they’ve all ended. If you can figure out a reason why people would waste a Saturday afternoon attending such a pointless event, you’re doing better then I am.
But that said, Chuck “Shutdown Schumer” just did Trump the biggest favor of his presidency so far – he handed Trump the opportunity to keep a huge campaign promise: Cutting the size of the government.
