As chaos reigns in the so-called “People’s Republic of Portland,” the Trump administration and federal authorities are finally stepping in to bring some law and order back to a city that’s allowed itself to spiral into anarchy.
U.S. Attorney Scott Bradford has pointedly noted that “all federal officers must be able to come and go from the ICE office without harassment or hindrance,” while also demanding the city “create a perimeter around the ICE office.”
President Donald Trump’s message to Portland was also very clear and to the point: cooperate, or deal with the consequences. But Portland’s Democrat Mayor Keith Wilson had an all-too-predictable response.
Instead of taking steps to secure the ICE facility, Wilson reportedly refused to establish a perimeter and even ordered police tape removed from around the site — a petty and reckless move that perfectly encapsulates his brand of defiance.
For anyone who still values law, order, and basic decency, Wilson’s actions are appalling. Federal officers are risking their lives to protect others and restore a semblance of safety in a city that’s fallen apart, yet the mayor seems more interested in political grandstanding than public safety.
According to Homeland Security counsel James Percival, Wilson told federal officials that while they might “want open access,” the city had no intention of granting it on demand. “The Mayor and our local public safety professionals will continue to evaluate the situation on the ground, and they will continue to make public order decisions based on what they believe will be in the best interest of Portland and our community,” the city said.
In other words, ‘We have no intention of either complying with this request or stopping the nightly violence disguised as lawful protests from disrupting or targeting ICE agents because we value illegal aliens more than American federal law enforcement officers doing the jobs Congress authorized them to do.’
It’s worth remembering that back in September, President Trump called for deploying National Guard troops to Portland to work alongside ICE agents — both to enforce immigration law and to stop the city’s left-wing chaos before it spread any further.
During Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s visit to the ICE facility on Tuesday, she met with Portland Police Bureau Chief Bob Day and noted that the area had been properly secured for the event.
By Wednesday, however, that perimeter was gone — reportedly removed on orders from city officials, according to Fox News.
As conservatives often point out, the left’s hatred for Donald Trump burns hotter than its love for America — and sadly, that’s proving truer than ever.
What began as partisan bitterness toward Trump and his supporters has morphed into something darker, more deranged, and far more dangerous. When radicalized leftists are willing to put innocent lives at risk — targeting people whose only “crime” is enforcing the laws that protect us all — we’ve moved well past political disagreement. We’re staring straight into the abyss of moral decay.
And then came the unthinkable: the public, cold-blooded murder of our friend, Charlie Kirk.
When hatred becomes a belief system and violence is dressed up as virtue, the line between political activism and outright evil disappears — and the consequences are devastating.
