As the Schumer Shutdown drags into its ninth day, the Senate Minority Leader from New York seems determined to keep tilting at windmills. Rather than offering solutions, Chuck Schumer appears to be basking in the chaos.
In a Wednesday interview, he even bragged that “every day gets better for us” — a stunning admission from the man responsible for grinding government operations to a halt and inflicting real pain on millions of Americans.
During a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, President Donald Trump delivered a dose of reality to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, making it clear that the ongoing shutdown isn’t hurting his administration — it’s helping it. Trump pointed out that the pause in funding is giving his team a prime opportunity to clean house and eliminate some of the Democrats’ favorite left-wing slush funds:
Chuck Schumer proclaimed this morning that every day gets better for them. No, it’s actually getting worse for them… This is a confession that he’s acting not to serve the people but to serve the partisan interests of his party.
…we’re only cutting Democrat programs, but we’re gonna start that… but we’ll be cutting some very popular Democrat programs that aren’t popular with Republicans, frankly, because that’s the way it works.
They wanted to do this, so we’ll give a little taste of their own medicine.

Reacting to Schumer’s tone-deaf claim that things were “getting better” for Democrats as they continued blocking a clean continuing resolution, Trump suggested the senator might want to reconsider that statement. Trump also highlighted Schumer’s apparent hypocrisy, reminding reporters that the New York Democrat once railed against government shutdowns before reversing course when it became politically useful to him.
As we’ve reported, former presidential candidate Kamala Harris has been busy on her book tour, expressing strong language and attempting to reshape the narrative of the 2024 election. “It was the tightest, closest presidential election in the 21st century,” she hilariously declared.
Trump, of course, wasn’t having it:
Look, they just lost an election in a landslide. You know, it was interesting. I watched Kamala—a sad figure—I watched her the other day saying, “the election was very close.” I said, “No, the election was a landslide. We won the popular vote by millions. We won the electoral college by, I think, 312 or 315 to 220-something.
Democrats are completely delusional if they think celebrating the shutdown is some kind of winning strategy. While they’re patting themselves on the back, Trump is quietly using the opportunity to slash their pet projects and drain funding from their favorite left-wing programs.
At some point, the American people are going to get sick of the Democrats’ endless grandstanding and political theater. For all their noise and posturing, they’ve accomplished exactly nothing — zip, zero, nada.
