One of the more desperate talking points Oregon Democrats have rolled out to oppose President Trump’s deployment of troops to Portland is the claim that he’s leaning on old 2020 George Floyd riot footage to justify his decision.
The implication is that there’s no current chaos to point to. That’s simply false, and anyone with eyes and an internet connection can see fresh video of violence, vandalism, and clashes outside the ICE facility and across the city. Pretending otherwise isn’t an argument—it’s denial.
It’s a narrative their friends in the mainstream media have eagerly pushed too—suggesting Trump is relying on outdated riot footage. But even some outlets have had to admit the truth: the videos he’s reportedly seen don’t just come from the 2020 George Floyd riots. They also include footage from the very real unrest and violence outside Portland’s ICE facility over the past three months.
According to CNN, “[Trump] first began floating the idea of a Portland deployment weeks ago, on the same day that Fox News – famously Trump’s outlet of choice – aired a story about the protests that mixed recent footage of standoffs at the ICE facility with older footage of the downtown rioting.”
What the media conveniently left out is that it wasn’t Trump waking up one morning and demanding troops—it was DHS Secretary Kristi Noem who requested the assistance. She’s in regular contact with the Portland ICE facility and knows exactly what’s happening on the ground.
Now, as Oregon sues the Trump administration to block the deployment of National Guard troops—potentially arriving as soon as Thursday—ordinary residents are making their voices heard. One frustrated Portlander, tired of enduring nightly noise and chaos from agitators, broke the silence to thank Trump for stepping in where city and state “leaders” have refused to act:
The Portland resident who went viral after confronting Antifa outside the ICE facility in Portland has issued a statement to @TPostMillennial on President Trump sending in troops:
“For over 100 days, my community has faced relentless harassment, robbery, assault, and racial violence at the hands of these protesters. Day and night, the danger has continued while Portland police and city leaders refused to act, refused to protect us, and refused to address our legitimate concerns. The people of South Portland have been abandoned.
Therefore, I want to thank President Trump for responding to our plight by sending the National Guard. Just as President Eisenhower acted in Little Rock to uphold the rights and safety of citizens when local authorities refused, President Trump has stepped in where Portland’s leaders failed.
He has provided the security and relief our community needed but was denied by those entrusted to protect us.
God Bless you President Trump!”

Daviscourt added that the Portland resident—whom some users on X described as “based”—didn’t hold back in slamming Democrat Mayor Keith Wilson. The mayor had tried to downplay the current unrest by claiming the only riot footage Trump could have seen was from 2020:
Additionally, the resident lambasted Portland Mayor Keith Wilson for falsely claiming footage from the 100-day-plus unlawful demonstrations is from 2020, adding in the statement:
“The Mayor has publicly claimed that President Trump is being ‘misled’ by 2020 footage.
That statement is false.
I personally filmed some of the footage at issue. The remainder was filmed by other individuals. Every piece of the contemporary footage was introduced as evidence in my lawsuit against the City, and in court, all of it was formally authenticated under oath without objection. In other words, the City itself confirmed on the record that every portion of the footage is genuine.
For the Mayor now to assert or imply that the footage is from 2020, or that its truth is in doubt, is not simply mistaken — it is a knowing misrepresentation of facts already established in a court of law.”
The resident’s name wasn’t released, but she appears to be the same woman cited in a July KGW report—someone who made clear she wasn’t a Trump supporter, yet was fed up with the endless chaos outside her home. According to the report, the nightly disturbances grew so severe that on one occasion the noise actually caused her ear to bleed:
Sirens, bullhorn messages from protesters, buzzers, bells and revving engines are among the cacophony Cloud Elvengrail says are making her home, where she’s lived since last July, “akin to a torture chamber.”
According to the lawsuit, Elvengrail lives in low-income housing, Gray’s Landing, across the street from the ICE facility, as well as near a Tesla showroom. She said the noises have been happening well into the night for weeks, with the lawsuit describing an incident in late June, when Elvengrail “felt pressure in her left ear… When she reached up to touch her ear, she saw her finger was covered in blood.”
Unfortunately—though hardly surprising—the court ruled against her. If it is indeed the same woman, she was seen back in June confronting the agitators herself, cane in hand, and letting them know exactly what she thought of their nightly chaos. One so-called “protester” even stooped to urging her to do something vile with her cane.
A Portland resident confronts Antifa for blaring music past midnight at the ongoing ICE facility occupation:
"I'm coming back every night and I'm breaking your sh-t. We the people need sleep. You're worse than ICE, terrorizing us every night. Go f-ck yourself." pic.twitter.com/gpDBdPYiuP

Apparently, to the Antifa crowd, black voices only count if they’re parroting the approved script. The moment someone dares to question their actions, that voice is dismissed—or mocked. Shocking? Not at all. It’s the hypocrisy we’ve come to expect.
