Trump Confirms Republicans Will Hold Convention Before Midterms

President Trump announced in a Truth Social post on Tuesday that Republicans would hold a “Midterm Convention” ahead of next year’s elections.

“The Republicans are going to do a Midterm Convention in order to show the great things we have done since the Presidential Election of 2024. Time and place to be determined. Stay tuned, it will be quite the Event, and very exciting! President DJT” Trump wrote on his Truth Social page.

Last month, Trump suggested that Republicans consider holding a convention before the midterm elections. “The Republican Party is doing really well. Millions of people have joined us in our quest to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. We won every aspect of the Presidential Election and, based on the great success we are having, are poised to WIN BIG IN THE MIDTERMS,” the president said.

Trump went on to tout Republican fundraising gains and highlighted his administration’s efforts to roll back policies enacted under former President Biden. “In that light, I am thinking of recommending a National Convention to the Republican Party, just prior to the Midterms. It has never been done before. STAY TUNED!!!” he wrote.

The president’s remarks last month came as speculation swirled that Democrats might stage their own gathering ahead of the midterms — an idea that only came after Trump first mentioned having the GOP hold a midterm convention.

A Democratic National Committee spokesperson later confirmed the party is weighing a large pre-2026 event to showcase rising stars and midterm candidates, echoing earlier reporting by Axios.
