Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) spent part of the August recess at Italy’s Lake Como, where she was seen at the luxury Villa d’Este, where nightly rates can exceed $3,000, according to the hotel’s website.
Pelosi, whose net worth is estimated at $260 million, has long faced scrutiny over stock trades made by her husband, venture capitalist Paul Pelosi.
Video obtained by the Washington Free Beacon shows Pelosi, handbag in hand, walking past a gangway as other travelers enjoyed the summer sun. Pelosi stayed at the property from Aug. 25 to Aug. 28, according to the outlet.

Built in 1567 as a residence for the Cardinal of Como, the Villa d’Este was converted into a hotel in 1873 after changing hands among several wealthy families, according to its website. The Times of London described the estate in May 2024 as a “gold-drenched wonder of a luxury hotel, obscenely opulent at every turn.”
At 85, Pelosi has led House Democrats in various roles since 2007, including eight years as speaker, and took on the newly coined title of “Speaker Emerita” after Democrats lost the House in 2022.
In office since 1987, she has said she plans to run again in 2026 despite facing a primary challenge from Saikat Chakrabarti, a tech entrepreneur and former chief of staff to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), whose financial disclosures suggest he may be wealthier than Pelosi.
Pelosi is not the only Democrat who retreated to Lake Como this summer. Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, often mentioned as a possible 2028 presidential contender, was spotted aboard George Clooney’s yacht with his wife.
