A leading 2028 Democratic governor and presidential hopeful was spotted over the weekend partying with a well-known Hollywood A-lister amid complaints that his state’s crime problem is out of hand in a key city.
Maryland Gov. Wes Moore — who has been waging a high-profile war with President Donald Trump over his law-and-order crackdown — jetted off to George Clooney’s lavish Lake Como estate in Italy, where he was photographed lounging shirtless aboard the movie star’s yacht with his wife, Dawn.
The 46-year-old Democrat, often touted as one of his party’s rising stars, looked relaxed and carefree as he soaked up the Mediterranean sun, sipping drinks and chatting with Dawn as the couple enjoyed a glamorous escape far from Baltimore’s crime-plagued streets, the UK’s Daily Mail reported.
The sighting comes as Trump slams Democratic leaders for failing to keep cities safe. A White House spokesman ripped Moore’s getaway, telling the Daily Mail: “Baltimore’s residents can’t escape gunshots and crime while Wes Moore flies to Lake Como to hang out with the Democrat elite.”
“Maybe he should stay there, because he surely isn’t getting anything done in Annapolis,” the source added.

George and Amal Clooney may have already slipped out of Italy after their brief appearance at the Venice Film Festival, but the Hollywood power couple left the doors of their $100 million Villa Oleandra wide open for Maryland Gov. Wes Moore and his wife, Dawn.
The Moores are reportedly enjoying the full run of the lavish Lake Como estate — complete with private staff, manicured gardens, and every luxury imaginable — as they bask in the comforts of Hollywood royalty, the outlet reported.
Adding to the swirl of speculation, Clooney has privately touted Moore as his pick for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028, once calling him “someone we could all join in behind.”
Moore’s Lake Como getaway comes after a bruising week spent clashing with President Trump over his deployment of the National Guard in Washington, D.C., to fight crime.
Trump has threatened to send federal forces into Baltimore as well, blasting Maryland’s largest city as a “hell hole” and a “horrible death bed.”
Moore has conceded that Baltimore’s spiraling crime demands urgent action but has flatly rejected Trump’s call to send in the Guard, insisting the city needs long-term solutions — not a federal takeover.
