Vice President JD Vance suggested that the Trump administration’s escalating investigations into the origins of the Russian collusion narrative will likely lead to “a lot” of indictments.
Vance referenced recent disclosures from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who declassified a series of documents detailing how senior Obama officials helped craft the false collusion claims. One document revealed that former President Barack Obama and his top intelligence leaders were briefed that Russian interference in the 2016 election was minimal and had no material impact on the outcome.
Nevertheless, senior intelligence officials approved a report asserting the opposite, triggering the special counsel probe led by former FBI Director Robert Mueller. The investigation, which ultimately found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government, severely hindered President Donald Trump’s first term.
Without naming individuals, Vance told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo that “a lot of people” could face indictments related to the scheme. “I absolutely want to see indictments,” Vance told Fox News. “Of course, you’ve got to have the law follow the facts here.”
“You don’t just indict people to indict people. You indict people because they broke the law,” the vice president went on to say. “If you look at what Tulsi and Kash Patel have revealed in the last couple of weeks, I don’t know how anybody can look at that and say there was[n’t] an aggressive violation of the law.”
Vance further added that based on the evidence he has seen, much of which is publicly available, he is of the opinion that senior Obama officials broke the law. “I absolutely think they broke the law. And you’re going to see a lot of people get indicted for that,” he said.
