Thousands of classified documents related to the government’s investigation into President Donald Trump and the so-called Russia collusion hoax were discovered in a secure FBI facility and were reportedly being prepared for destruction before FBI Director Kash Patel intervened, according to sources.
Patel’s team claims to have uncovered “burn bags” filled with materials detailing the government’s findings in “Crossfire Hurricane,” the highly controversial investigation into whether Trump colluded with Russian operatives during the 2016 election, sources told Fox News.
The years-old probe has resurfaced in the headlines this month after the Trump administration announced it had referred former President Barack Obama for criminal prosecution over his alleged involvement in the matter. Sources told Fox News that the “burn bags” in question are typically used to destroy documents marked as classified or higher.
According to those sources, one of the bags contained the classified annex of Special Counsel John Durham’s report, which concluded there was no evidence of collusion and criticized the government’s decision to launch the investigation.
Patel claimed that some of the underlying intelligence cited in Durham’s findings was also inside the bags, raising concerns that Biden’s FBI may have been attempting to eliminate evidence that cleared Trump ahead of the start of his second term. It’s unclear how Patel made the discovery – whether he stumbled upon the bags himself or was tipped off to their location.
The classified annex is now being declassified with the assistance of CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Acting NSA Director William Hartman.
According to eyewitnesses who have reviewed the classified annex, it reveals that U.S. intelligence agencies had obtained credible information from foreign sources indicating the FBI was expected to take a lead role in promoting the Trump-Russia collusion narrative—even before the official launch of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation.
