After Congressional Democrats complained about being blocked from entering another Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility on Monday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) responded by setting the record straight.
“BREAKING – REJECTED AGAIN! Senator Chris Van Hollen and other Democrats tried to storm into an ICE facility in Baltimore but were turned down,” Marylander-turned-Floridian Newsman Eric Daugherty reported on social media Monday afternoon. “So they’re now doing a ‘sit in.’ The Democrats’ all-time low just keeps getting lower,” the Florida Voice News breaking news assistant director added.
That led to a response from DHS Secretary Kristi Noem: “These are the monsters that @ChrisVanHollen is protecting over Americans victims,” she wrote, adding photos of four illegal migrant suspects and the heinous crimes they’re accused of committing.
DHS also responded to a social media post by one member of the Democrat cohort that stormed the Baltimore facility, Maryland Rep. Johnny Olszewski, by giving him instructions on how to successfully stage “a photo op with the violent criminal aliens you are protecting.”
“Congressman, if you need a photo op with the violent criminal illegal aliens you are protecting—schedule a TOUR. As for visits to detention facilities, requests should be made with sufficient time to prevent interference with the President’s Article II authority to oversee executive department functions—a week is sufficient to ensure no intrusion on the President’s constitutional authority,” DHS noted. “To protect the President’s Article II authority, any request to shorten that time must be approved by the Secretary.”
Monday’s unannounced and unscheduled visit to an ICE facility marks the latest in a series of Democratic publicity stunts aimed at generating sympathy for illegal immigrants while casting themselves as victims.
