Attorney General Pam Bondi is assembling a strike force to investigate revelations from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence alleging that the Obama administration “manufactured” a 2017 intelligence assessment to promote the so-called Russia collusion hoax, reports said on Thursday.
The Department of Justice announced the formation of the strike force on Wednesday. According to the release, the team will “review the evidence disclosed by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and investigate possible legal actions stemming from her revelations.”
Bondi called the disclosures from Gabbard’s office “troubling” in a statement. “The Department of Justice is proud to work with my friend Director Gabbard and we are grateful for her partnership in delivering accountability for the American people,” she said. “We will investigate these troubling disclosures fully and leave no stone unturned to deliver justice.”
Last week, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence released a report it said showed “overwhelming evidence that demonstrates how, after President Trump won the 2016 election against Hillary Clinton, President Obama and his national security cabinet members manufactured and politicized intelligence to lay the groundwork for what was essentially a years-long coup against President Trump.”
On Wednesday, Gabbard declassified a September 2020 House Intelligence Committee majority staff oversight report, which she claims reveals that the Obama administration “manufactured” an intelligence assessment to support the Russia collusion hoax.
She noted on the X platform: Per President @realDonaldTrump‘s directive, I have declassified a @HouseIntel oversight majority staff report that exposes how the Obama Administration manufactured the January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment that they knew was false, promoting the LIE that Vladimir Putin and the Russian government helped President Trump win the 2016 election.”
She added: “In doing so, they conspired to subvert the will of the American people, working with their partners in the media to promote the lie, in order to undermine the legitimacy of President Trump, essentially enacting a years-long coup against him.”
