President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform early Tuesday to call out Adam Schiff over purpoted federal investigation into the California senator’s alleged mortgage fraud.
“I have always suspected Shifty Adam Shiff was a scam artist. And now I learn that Fannie Mae’s Financial Crimes Division have concluded that Adam Schiff has engaged in a sustained pattern of possible Mortgage Fraud,” Trump’s post began.
“Adam Schiff said that his primary residence was in MARYLAND to get a cheaper mortgage and rip off America, when he must LIVE in CALIFORNIA because he was a Congressman from CALIFORNIA. I always knew Adam Schiff was a Crook,” Trump charged.
“The FRAUD began with the refinance of his Maryland property on February 6, 2009, and continued through multiple transactions until the Maryland property was correctly designated as a second home on October 13, 2020. Mortgage Fraud is very serious, and CROOKED Adam Schiff (now a Senator) needs to be brought to justice,” he concluded.
The post comes on the heels of a USA Herald report from May 2025 about a “bombshell ethics complaint” filed in October 2024 by Christine Bish and Darren Ellis against Representative Adam Schiff, alleging “a pattern of mortgage fraud, voter fraud, and unlawful campaign filings spanning more than two decades.”
In recent months, the Trump administration has leveled similar mortgage-fraud allegations against political adversaries. In early May 2025, New York Attorney General Letitia James faced a criminal probe into mortgage fraud after a referral from Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte.
