Minnesota assassination suspect Vance Boelter wrote a letter in which he blamed Democratic Governor Tim Walz for the deadly rampage he carried out, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

Multiple sources confirmed to Alpha News that the handwritten letter—described as a confession—was addressed to Kash Patel, the director of the FBI. Law enforcement discovered the letter inside a Buick Boelter had purchased just hours after shooting Minnesota state Sent. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, and fatally shooting Minnesota legislator and Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman along with her husband, Mark.

After an extensive manhunt—the largest in Minnesota’s history—Vance Boelter was arrested near his home in Green Isle, Minnesota.

Boelter has been charged with the murders of Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, as well as the shootings of Senator John Hoffman and his wife, both of whom are recovering. According to charging documents, authorities found a handwritten note signed “Dr. Vance Luther Boelter,” in which Boelter admitted to being the “shooter at large in Minnesota involved in the two shootings.”

The documents also state that Boelter purchased a Buick and an e-bike for $900 from an unknown individual at a bus stop in north Minneapolis. That person later drove Boelter to a U.S. Bank branch, where he withdrew $2,200 from his account. Surveillance footage from the bank showed Boelter wearing a cowboy hat—an image the FBI later released during the manhunt. Additional security footage from Boelter’s north Minneapolis residence, where he rented a room, also captured him wearing a cowboy hat.

Walz was not listed on a typed version of Vance Boelter’s “hit list,” which was obtained by Alpha News and circulated among law enforcement shortly after the shootings. The document included the names of numerous Democratic politicians and several abortion facilities, Alpha News reported.
