White House border czar Tom Homan revealed disturbing new details about the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids that triggered coordinated left-wing attacks on federal agents and several days of rioting in Los Angeles.
Contrary to claims by California Governor Gavin Newsom and other state officials, who suggested the violence began only after President Donald Trump deployed National Guard troops, Homan stated that the unrest actually started Friday, when federal agents were repeatedly attacked while carrying out operations in the city’s fashion district.
Agents were later trapped inside a federal building as members of the crowd assaulted them with rocks, clubs, hammers, and fireworks. The violence intensified on Saturday, when rioters hurled large rocks at moving vehicles, nearly causing fatalities among federal personnel. During an appearance on Dr. Phil Primetime, Homan revealed new details about the immigration raid that sparked the ongoing unrest, which has since spread beyond Los Angeles to cities across the country.
“This warehouse and retail outlet that you served warrants on, the belief is, and the evidence suggests that this is a cartel-related business here in the United States. That this money, the $80 million that they are suspected of undervaluing the double-digit millions in tariffs that they are suspected of and will be charged with violations on income tax evasion,” Dr. Phil began. “You believe that all of that is for, is benefiting an illegal cartel, a cartel in Mexico or Colombia, do you know which cartel?”
Homan declined to disclose the specific cartel involved, but mentioned that the raid was part of a broader investigation. “No, it’s a larger investigation, and this company is one of many that we’re searching and gathering evidence on the fact that much of the money in this industry is laundered to Colombia and Mexico in support of cartel activities,” the White House border czar explained.
“We also got tax evasion, and we also got customs fraud. And, you know, a big part of ICE’s responsibilities are customs, customs laws, customs enforcement,” he continued. “So this is one business out of many we’re looking at, so it’s a part of a bigger investigation. And as we gather more and more evidence, then we’ll decide what we want to criminally prosecute.”
Federal agents apprehended 45 undocumented immigrants during at least seven coordinated raids across Los Angeles on Friday night. Among those arrested was a Mexican national with prior convictions for homicide and burglary, who had also reentered the country illegally following a previous deportation.
