New reports reveal that the suspected would-be terrorist behind an alleged anti-Semitic attack on a Jewish gathering in Boulder, Colorado, was an illegal immigrant who entered the U.S. during the Biden administration and remained in the country well beyond his visa’s expiration.
According to the Trump administration, the 45-year-old Egyptian national was granted a work permit despite having violated immigration law by overstaying his visa. Mohamed Sabry Soliman has been accused of assaulting several elderly participants during a “Run for Their Lives” walk—an event organized to call for the release of Israeli hostages held in Gaza.
Reports indicate that Soliman used a makeshift flamethrower and a Molotov cocktail during the attack. Multiple media outlets reported that he shouted “Free Palestine!” while committing the act—echoing the words allegedly used by the suspect in last month’s fatal attack on staff at the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C.
Federal law enforcement officials stated that they are investigating the attack as an act of “ideologically motivated violence.” A total of eight individuals were injured, with victims’ ages ranging from 52 to 88 years. Fox News’ Bill Melugin took to social media to report that “the Boulder terror suspect is an Egyptian national in the U.S. illegally as a visa overstay who entered the U.S. during the Biden administration.”
“I’m told Mohamed Sabry Soliman arrived at [Los Angeles International Airport] on 8/27/22 on a B1/B2 nonimmigrant visa with an authorized stay through 2/26/23, but he overstayed & never left. I’m told on 9/29/22, he filed some sort of claim with USCIS, potentially an asylum claim, and on 3/29/23, USCIS under the Biden admin gave him work authorization, which expired on 3/28/25,” he continued.
Soliman’s ties to what critics call the Biden administration’s failed immigration policies may pose a political liability for Democrats in the upcoming elections. Immigration was a leading issue for many voters who supported President Donald Trump in the November election. The incident could further rally support for the GOP’s immigration platform, especially among voters concerned about national security.
“A terror attack was committed in Boulder, Colorado by an illegal alien. He was granted a tourist visa by the Biden Administration and then he illegally overstayed that visa. In response, the Biden Administration gave him a work permit,” White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller said on X.
