Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert has expressed her support for President Donald Trump’s self-deportation plan, stating she backs “whatever gets them out of here.” While speaking to a reporter outside Capitol Hill, Boebert was asked about the president’s plan to encourage illegal immigrants to self-deport by offering those willing to do so $1,000, and her response made clear she’s fully on board.

“I’m asking some members about President Trump. He’s proposing that the United States government pay undocumented immigrants to leave the country. What do you think?” the reporter asked. “You know what? Whatever gets them the hell out of here,” Boebert responded.

The reporter pressed: “Well, do you think it’s legal? Because Democrats are saying it’s not even legal?” She fired back: “Look at all the things Democrats have been paying for. I think we’ll be just fine. Also, I love the CBP One app where they get self-support there too. They want a second chance. They better get out now.”

The reporter followed up and asked, “So was Romney right about the self-deportation? He came up with that many — many years ago.” The Colorado Republican said, “Well, there needs to be a self-deportation. I guess I don’t know what Romney said exactly, but yeah, they need — they need to go. I mean, we had more than 10 million illegals come into our country in less than four years.”

A reporter asks Representative Lauren Boebert about President Trump’s proposal to have the United States Government pay illegals money (reportedly $1,000) to leave the country and if it’s legal.

Meanwhile, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., stated on Tuesday that the Justice Department still has not confirmed whether she is under federal investigation for a “Know Your Rights” immigration webinar she conducted in February.

“I’ve asked them, they haven’t responded to me, but you know, I was once again fully using the First Amendment to inform people of their constitutional rights. They say a lot of things, but I’ve written a formal letter, and they won’t respond,” Ocasio-Cortez told Fox News Digital. When asked what the fallout might be from the potential arrest of a lawmaker by the Trump administration, Ocasio-Cortez said that detention “without any actual grounds” would be a “tremendous sea change and escalation in what this administration is willing to do to bend laws, norms, et cetera, and how a normal functioning democracy works.”

Ocasio-Cortez also considered how America’s allies would perceive an “authoritarian development” like the U.S. arresting one of its own sitting congress members. “I sure hope that for all the saber-rattling that this administration is doing, that they really think about the global consequences of what it means for the United States,” she said, sounding somewhat concerned.
