A routine White House tour became an unforgettable experience on Tuesday morning when President Donald Trump made an unexpected appearance, greeting the first official tour group of the year. Known for his personal connection with the public, Trump took the opportunity to address the group, complimenting their visit and even joking that one of them could be the future president.
“But I want to thank you very much for coming. The tour is so great. You did such a good job. The first lady worked very hard on making it perfect,” Trump told the group. “And I think you’re going to really love it. And I heard you were here and I said, ‘let’s stop by and say hello.’ You’re very smart-looking people, I must say. Very smart. Maybe someday you’ll be here as the president, right?”
The moment quickly turned patriotic as chants of “USA! USA!” erupted from the tour attendees. The excitement was captured in a video shared by Margo Martin, Deputy Director of Communications for Trump, which has since gone viral. Social media users quickly embraced the moment, with many praising Trump as “The People’s President.” Others highlighted the stark contrast between his administration’s accessibility and their struggles to secure White House tour tickets under Democratic leadership.
“My Democrat rep has not replied to our form we filled out to come visit. Typical,” one user remarked, while another stated, “That took what, a minute of his time, that these lucky Americans will remember the rest of their lives! How awesome!” Another user summed up the moment: “Imagine your surprise tour guide is the President.”
History often smooths out the legacies of past presidents, but for Joe Biden, that redemption may take a long time—if it comes at all. The former president remains deeply unpopular compared to President Donald Trump, who is already one of the most polarizing figures in U.S. history.
That’s the key takeaway from a new Harvard University Center for American Political Studies poll, which found that most Americans prefer Trump’s first month back in office over four years under the Biden-Harris administration. According to the survey, 58% of respondents say they are more satisfied with Trump’s job performance than Biden’s—a strong number, especially considering the constant media coverage surrounding Trump’s flurry of statements, executive orders, and appointments.
Despite concerns from some Republican lawmakers, the DOGE agenda remains widely popular. The poll found that 72% of Americans “support the existence of a U.S. government focused on efficiency initiatives,” according to a press release from Harvard University’s Center for American Political Studies. The U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and its de facto leader, Elon Musk, have been at the forefront of dismantling large portions of the federal bureaucracy, targeting agencies such as USAID and the IRS.
Trump’s overall approval rating is currently at a strong 52% among all voters. Many respondents express satisfaction with his immigration policies, efforts to reduce government spending, and initiatives aimed at restoring traditional American values. In contrast, the Democratic Party’s approval rating has fallen to an all-time low of 36%.
