For much of the past century, the Democratic Party gave the appearance of being the party of “working men and women,” but in the age of Donald Trump, the party’s claim that it best represents ‘ordinary Americans’ is being exposed as a sham by the president-elect’s MAGA movement. And nowhere is this best represented than in the huge shift of support from Democrats to Republicans — and Trump in particular — by members of the country’s largest unions. What’s more, Democrats — and Kamala Harris in particular — have only themselves and their far-left extremism to blame.
Sean O’Brien, president of the Teamsters, recently disclosed that during the 2024 presidential election season, Vice President Harris abruptly walked out of a meeting with the union leadership, reportedly telling him in particular, “I’ll win with you or without you.” Harris went on to suffer a decisive defeat to President-elect Donald Trump in November. O’Brien shared the story during an appearance on The Tucker Carlson Show on Monday, where he also discussed the union’s historic decision to withhold a presidential endorsement for the first time in 30 years — though the union’s membership was reportedly overwhelmingly pro-Trump. According to a new report from The New York Post, Harris participated in a roundtable discussion after President Joe Biden exited the race but answered only 16 of the prepared questions. In contrast, the other candidates, including Donald Trump, fully addressed all the questions. “On the fourth question, one of her operatives or one of her staff slips a note in front of me — ‘This will be the last question.’ And it was 20 minutes earlier than the time it was going to end,” O’Brien said during the conversation with Carlson. “And her declaration on the way out was, ‘I’m going to win with you or without you.” That comment led Carlson to declare: “Damn. I thought I was arrogant. That’s really arrogant.”
The Teamsters president later revealed that he contacted former Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh to discuss the vice president’s actions. “Let me ask you a question, Marty. Excuse my French—who does this f–king lady think she is?” he recounted asking Walsh, who now serves as the head of the NHL Players’ Association.
The union later revealed that the majority of its 1.3 million members supported Trump over Harris, with 59.6 percent backing Trump compared to 34 percent for Harris. Prior to Biden’s withdrawal from the race, he had led Trump with 44.3 percent to Trump’s 36.3 percent. In the 2020 election, the Teamsters endorsed the Biden-Harris ticket, and in 2016, they supported Hillary Clinton over Trump.
