Daniel Penny, the young Marine veteran who recently beat murder charges brought by Alvin Bragg, will be a special guest of Vice President-elect J.D. Vance at the upcoming Army-Navy football game this Saturday. Eric Daugherty from Florida’s Voice News reported on X that the two men will be joined by President-elect Donald Trump in a private suite.
“Daniel’s a good guy, and New York’s mob district attorney tried to ruin his life for having a backbone,” Vance added in a post on X. “I’m grateful he accepted my invitation and hope he’s able to have fun and appreciate how much his fellow citizens admire his courage.”

Penny, 26, like Vance, served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and his veteran status attracted significant financial and media support from conservatives. A legal defense fund established for Penny on GiveSendGo raised over $3.3 million by the end of his trial. Republican New York City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino has urged the Trump-Vance administration to initiate a civil rights investigation into District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office, alleging that Bragg unfairly targeted Penny because he is white and Neely was black.
“It’s really simple. The Manhattan D.A. has made this racial. We have seen what A.G. Bragg has been capable of and has tried to pursue, and I think between Trump and now, this is the icing on the cake, with Penny… They make it a vendetta. He is definitely political. This is politicized, and I think he needs to be investigated. I think the whole DA’s office in Manhattan needs to be investigated,” she told “Fox & Friends First” on Tuesday.
Following Penny’s acquittal, Bragg suggested in a statement that he would not relitigate the case. “The jury has now spoken. At the Manhattan D.A.’s Office, we deeply respect the jury process, and we respect their verdict,” he said on Monday. “Unfortunately, over the duration of this trial, talented career prosecutors and their family members were besieged with hate and threats – on social media, by phone and over email. Simply put, this is unacceptable, and everyone, no matter your opinion on this case, should condemn it.”
Penny’s attorney, Steven Raiser, has announced that he is exploring a malicious prosecution lawsuit against Bragg, arguing that the case was politically motivated and unjust. “He’s relieved, that was the best thing that I could ever hear because the amount of stress that he’s been under for the past year and a half has been tremendous,” attorney Steven Raiser told to ‘Fox & Friends.’ “Just like Danny said in his interview, it was like they wanted to try and get him on something,” continued Raiser. “They knew they weren’t going to be able to get him, so they had to get rid of that top count in order to get to that second count just in the hopes that maybe they could pull out a win here, and they were unsuccessful, thank God.”
Raiser’s consideration of a malicious prosecution lawsuit highlights increasing scrutiny of the Soros-backed Bragg, who has faced criticism from political opponents and the public for his handling of high-profile cases. “Well, it goes against Alvin Bragg for the way in which he handled this case and the ethical lines that were blurred. Yeah, I mean, the medical examiner’s office—Chief Graham—for his involvement in this case. I mean, the record was made fairly clear as to the extent of his involvement in what occurred here,” Raiser continued. “You know, [the ME] was appointed by Mayor Adams, same political party as Alvin Bragg. The collusion began from the very beginning of this case and all the way through. The district attorney needed the medical examiner—and needed the medical examiner to act quickly—and he did just that.”
“It was clear that there was a fear that if an arrest wasn’t made – and made very quickly – that there might be rioting in the streets, and that that may ultimately look very bad for District Attorney Alvin Bragg. And if that in fact happened, that could affect his re-election.” Raiser added. “There were some highlights that were put out there, quite extensively, in regards to this office’s practice of not prosecuting crime, and some very serious cases to talking about restorative justice and such, which, by the way, in some circumstances, that’s a great thing.”
“But some brutal cases of an individual who attacked an 80-year-old man, mugging him and punching him and ultimately killing him, and yet you’re going to go after full-throated against my client, who you admit did a laudable thing and is a fine young man? Despicable,” he said
