Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz has finally admitted what intrepid journalist Tucker Carlson reported more than three years ago — a story that likely led to his dismissal. On Thursday, Horowitz released a much-anticipated report detailing critical issues in the FBI’s use of confidential human sources (CHS) leading up to the January 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol. The report revealed that, although the FBI officially assigned only three confidential sources to monitor the events that day, over two dozen CHS(s) were present in the crowd.
This bombshell report raises serious questions about the extent of the FBI’s involvement in intelligence gathering and its ability to effectively assess and respond to the events surrounding the certification of the Electoral College vote, especially after years of denials despite Carlson’s spot-on reporting. Horowitz’s investigation focused on the FBI’s deployment of confidential informants and its broader intelligence efforts as federal agencies prepared for January 6. While the FBI was aware of the potential for violence, the Inspector General identified significant failures in how informant information was managed and communicated with other law enforcement agencies — which is par for the course for the FBI in the age of heavy politicization.
“The FBI did not canvass its field offices in advance of January 6, 2021, to identify any intelligence, including CHS reporting, about potential threats to the January 6 Electoral Certification,” the report states. Deputy Director Paul Abbate, who was Associate Deputy Director at the time, called this omission a “basic step that was missed” — as though we’re supposed to believe that, all of a sudden, FBI middle managers and supervisory agents had simply forgotten procedure and how to do their jobs just for the Jan. 6 riot.
Although only three confidential sources were officially assigned to monitor the rally, the report revealed that 26 confidential sources, affiliated with various FBI field offices, were present on the Capitol grounds. Most of these sources attended either on their own initiative or as part of pre-existing assignments unrelated to the events of January 6, the IG’s report states, adding that, among these sources:
- Four entered the Capitol during the breach.
- Thirteen entered restricted areas surrounding the Capitol building.
- The remaining nine did not enter any prohibited zones.
Mind you, the vast majority of J6 defendants have been successfully prosecuted for committing these same crimes – but not a single FBI CHS has been. The IG report adds: “We determined that of the 26 CHSs who were in DC on January 6 in connection with the events of January 6, 4 entered the Capitol during the riot; an additional 13 entered the restricted area around the Capitol, which was a security perimeter established in preparation for the January 6 Electoral Certification; and 9 neither entered a restricted area nor entered the Capitol or otherwise engaged in illegal activity. None of the CHSs who entered the Capitol or a restricted area has been prosecuted to date.”
The Inspector General’s findings expose gaps in how intelligence from these sources was collected, analyzed, and shared. Horowitz noted that while individual field offices did obtain valuable reporting from sources—such as discussions of plans to “form a perimeter” around the Capitol or references to “storming the building”—this intelligence was not effectively relayed to the FBI’s Washington Field Office (WFO) or other law enforcement partners.
The question is: Why? Why not relay that information to the Washington Field Office? Why not alert the supervisory entity in charge so they could be prepared to intervene? The questions answer themselves: Obviously, the deep state wanted this riot to come off so they could saddle Trump with it and make him so radioactive he could never ever think about running for the presidency again. The same deep state scumbags also used the riot to prosecute Trump, which would have happened had he not managed to defy the odds and blow VP Harris’ campaign out of the water.
The bottom line is this: On Joe Biden’s way out the door, the DOJ IG dropped a report that substantiating what some have been saying for years: The swamp rats knew what was coming on Jan. 6, likely fomented it, and then let it happen so they could take out a political opponent and send him to prison. This, more than anything, is why Trump won so big: Americans are sick of the politics of destruction and want our leaders to focus on fixing the very legitimate problems and issues our country is facing.
