The Biden-Harris Justice Department and the FBI once again appear to be proving President-elect Donald Trump correct over his frequent claims that both have been “politicized,” even to the point where some Democrats are beginning to complain. During Friday’s broadcast of NPR’s Morning Edition, Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO), Ranking Member of the Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump, stated that while the Secret Service has cooperated with the investigation, the Department of Justice and FBI have refused to provide information regarding the motives of the Butler shooter and whether other individuals were involved in the incident.
“The Secret Service was cooperative. We did have some challenges getting information from the Department of Justice and from the FBI. We’re going to continue to try to get that information so that we can get to the motives of the shooter on July 13,” Crow said. That led co-host Leila Fadel to ask, “And what information are you still trying to get from the FBI and the Department of Justice?”
Crow responded, “Well, we want to have the digital analysis of his phone, his contacts, whether there were any other people that were affiliated with him. We still don’t really understand why he did this and if others were involved. The Department of Justice has told us that this is the result of an ongoing criminal investigation. But ongoing criminal investigations should not prevent congressional oversight, which is the highest level of oversight in America. And there are plenty of mechanisms for us to receive information that’s sensitive.”
Others have noted as well that months after the first attempt on Trump’s life, there are still so many unanswered questions. After Fox News anchor Bret Baier played a clip of a loud argument between Secret Service Acting Director Ronald Rowe and Rep. Pat Fallon (R-TX) during a House hearing on the attempt, The Washington Examiner’s Byron York said: “The Republican nominee, now the president-elect, was shot in July. And today, we still do not know a whole lot about the would-be assassin, his motives, his actions, his history. Obviously, there were huge security lapses that need further investigation. This was a really big deal.
He added: “And I will say there are some parts of the press that just haven’t seemed all that interested in it. And this is an enormous story that has to be followed up. And an argument like today just kind of distracts from those questions that you were talking about.”
