A leaked message sparked outrage after it allegedly revealed a plan by Sen. Mitch McConnell to obstruct President-elect Donald Trump’s nominations. New Yorker staff writer Jane Mayer initially posted, then deleted, a social media post claiming that the outgoing Senate Minority Leader intended to undermine Trump’s agenda. The report quickly gained traction on X after Mayer wrote on Sunday: “Message to Trump Team: ‘There will be no recess appointments,’ Sen. Mitch McConnell said tonight at a Washington gathering.” But then, some pointed out that something “sketchy” had happened as GOP Sen. Mike Lee of Utah asked why the post was taken down.
? ALERT RE: McConnell – something sketchy is going on.
This news of McConnell telling Trump “no recess appointments” has been DELETED by the D.C.-based New Yorker reporter….
AFTER a sitting US Senator (@BasedMikeLee) and basically the entirety of X got wind of the news.

Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) was among the many who clapped back at the idea of McConnell trying to insert himself into the incoming Trump administration. “Remember that time when McConnell decided he wouldn’t be speaking for Senate Republicans anymore?” Sen. Lee wrote in another post.
Yes, there will be. https://t.co/wn8EzfnKHr

Over the weekend, incoming Senate GOP leader John Thune emphasized the importance of advancing Trump’s nominations, even suggesting the use of recess appointments to bypass Senate confirmation hearings if necessary. “One thing is clear: We must act quickly and decisively to get the president’s Cabinet and other nominees in place as soon as possible to start delivering on the mandate we’ve been sent to execute, and all options are on the table to make that happen, including recess appointments,” the South Dakota Republican said.
Advocating for swift confirmations and the use of recess appointments if necessary, Trump wrote on Truth Social: “Sometimes the votes can take two years or more. This is what they did four years ago, and we cannot let it happen again. We need positions filled IMMEDIATELY!” he added. The alleged plot by McConnell to obstruct Trump’s nominations ignited a firestorm within the MAGA movement, though again, it’s not clear that McConnell even made the remark at this point.
JUST IN: The New Yorker report Mitch McConnell sent a message to Trump: “There will be no recess appointments.”
McConnell may not be aware, but he’s no longer in charge of the Senate.
But let’s take Mitch at his word. Any Republican who defies President-elect Trump’s nominees…

Nobody now in Washington, including elected Democrats, has caused more lasting damage to the conservative cause than Mitch McConnell. https://t.co/JQkUqcDvXq

Mitch McConnell says there will be no “recess appointments” for Trump.
Openly attempting to block Trump’s cabinet picks.
I wonder how much money this old man has laundered and stolen from the American people over the years?
Guess we should check into that. pic.twitter.com/5h7u9pocQN

Mitch McConnell is a never Trumper who has more allegiance to the CCP than the US. He has been an impediment to Trump’s success for 9 years.
He is the poster child for term limits— ?Skibum (@heliski777) November 18, 2024
