In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News on Sirius XM, former President Donald Trump announced that his rally at Madison Square Garden next weekend sold out in just a few hours. During a 25-minute special report interview with Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle on Saturday, Trump was asked what Americans could expect at the Sunday rally in New York City, to which he highlighted that it would be a sold-out event.
“We sold it out in less than three hours. But people are going to come anyway. We have big screens outside. It’s going to be unbelievable. So come anyway. I mean, come, maybe you get in, I don’t know, but it sold out very quickly,” Trump said. “It’s fantastic. It’s going to be fantastic.”
Madison Square Garden has a rich history in American sports, entertainment, and politics. It was the venue for the “Fight of the Century” between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier in March 1971, the iconic Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals, and the New York Rangers’ Stanley Cup victory in 1994. Music legends such as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and the Rolling Stones have showcased their talents at the new Garden, which has also hosted several Democratic National Conventions and one Republican National Convention in 2004. Additionally, the original Madison Square Garden, which closed in 1968, is famously remembered as the place where Marilyn Monroe delivered the most iconic rendition of “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy in 1962.
Trump first mentioned to Breitbart News in December 2023 that he was contemplating renting Madison Square Garden for a rally. “I may rent Madison Square Garden, and that’s the belly of the beast, right?” he said. As he anticipates a memorable evening on New York’s grandest stage, he also has several other significant rallies planned, including one on Saturday in Pennsylvania, Breitbart News noted.
On Sunday, Trump was greeted with enthusiasm by Pittsburgh Steelers fans during his visit to Acrisure Stadium for the team’s primetime game against the New York Jets on Sunday night. Trump had announced his attendance to cap off a busy weekend in Pennsylvania. At a rally in the Pittsburgh area on Saturday, he was joined by Steelers legends Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown, both of whom endorsed him and committed to helping with get-out-the-vote efforts.
Bell and Brown also hosted a tailgate event in partnership with Turning Point USA ahead of the matchup. The two NFL stars worked to register voters and garner support for Trump in what is expected to be a crucial swing state in the upcoming election. Before his arrival, the former president shared a humorous, AI-generated image showing his support for the Steelers. The post, featuring Trump in a #47 Steelers jersey, quickly attracted nearly half a million likes on Instagram.
The Republican nominee arrived at the game midway through the first quarter and was featured on the nationally televised NBC broadcast. Sunday Night Football commentator Mike Tirico mentioned that former President Trump was invited to the stadium as an official guest of a suite holder. As Trump settled into his seat, he was met with cheers and chants of “USA” from a whole section of Steelers fans.
