Border Patrol agents are threatening to resign and warning of a mass exodus from the law enforcement agency if Vice President Kamala Harris wins the presidency in November, stating that working under the Biden-Harris administration has been “four years in hell.” Their comments come as border security and illegal immigration rank among the most pressing issues for voters as the election approaches.
“I’m not doing this … again,” one anonymous agent said in an interview with the New York Post, going on to describe working under the Biden-Harris administration as “four years in hell.” Another agent added that “lots of guys who can retire will go” if Harris wins, but that “if Trump wins, they’ll stay.” Another agent proclaimed: “Under this administration, they’ve done everything they could to make our job as inefficient as possible. They can’t outwardly tell us not to do our job, but when you’re watching criminals come in and get released, it sucks.”
The National Border Patrol Union recently endorsed Donald Trump for president, warning that “every city, every community in this great country, is going to go to hell” if Harris beats Trump in the November 5th election. Some of the illegal immigrants who entered the United States during the Biden-Harris administration are now believed to have committed violent crimes, including assaults, rapes, and murders, against American citizens.
Yuma Border Patrol Chief Chris Clem also commented on the current administration, saying that it has damaged morale among Border Patrol agents.“The morale has never been as low in the Border Patrol, but under the Biden-Harris administration and her current ads, acting like she’s pro-border security is just putting salt on an already gaping wound for the morale of border Border Patrol agents and law enforcement.”
Harris recently released an advertisement in which she presents herself as a “border state prosecutor,” including a shot that features an image of the border wall built during the Trump administration. Another advertisement claims that “Kamala Harris supports increasing the number of Border Patrol agents,” but of course, increasing the number of agents and implementing the same Biden-Harris policies that prevent them from doing their jobs are two different things.
Harris’s shift on immigration comes as the Biden-Harris administration has overseen a historic rise in illegal immigration at both the southern and northern borders. More than 10 million people have crossed the border since Biden took office, with an estimated 1.7 million illegal immigrant gotaways recorded since his inauguration in 2021. In comparison, there were a total of 415,000 reported gotaways during the Trump administration in 2018, 2019, and 2020. Recent polling indicates that a majority of voters do not believe Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate for president, has “clearly explained” her policy positions regarding illegal immigration
