Former President Donald Trump criticized California’s liberal leaders at a large rally in Coachella on Saturday. Hollywood movie star Dennis Quaid then took the stage and urged the crowd to “pick a side.” Trump told supporters, many of whom stood for hours in 100-degree heat, “The radical left democrats have destroyed this state, but we are going to save it. We’re going to make it better than ever before.” He added: “We’re not going to let [Harris] destroy our country like she did San Francisco.”
“It’s a paradise lost, but we’re gonna bring it back,” Trump continued, adding, “Don’t worry about it, we’re gonna bring it back. It’ll happen fast.” He then reminisced nostalgically about the remarkable heights that California once represented. “Through generations of American history California stood as a beacon of what our country aspired to become,” Trump said. “It had everything. It had the weather. It had the water. The state had the best schools, the safest communities, and a booming middle class.
“But all of it was eradicated by the very policies that Kamala Harris now wants to force upon America,” Trump added. “Today California has the highest inflation, the highest taxes, the highest gas prices, the highest cost of living, the most regulations, the most expensive utilities, the most homelessness, the most crime, the most decay, and the most illegal aliens,” Trump noted further, “Other than that I think you’re doing quite well.”
The Republican candidate labeled Harris as a radical and criticized her recent media blunder. During an appearance on The View on Tuesday, Harris stated that she would not change any of the decisions made by the Biden administration over the past four years. Trump has been showcasing a video compilation at his rallies that includes Harris’s comment, interwoven with news clips highlighting the administration’s policy failures, such as escalating home prices and the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan. “Kamala Harris got you into this mess and only Trump can get you out of it, we’re gonna get you out of it,” the ex-prez said.
Trump introduced several guests who addressed the crowd, but Quaid — who recently played former California governor and president Ronald Reagan in a much-celebrated biopic — stole the show. “I’m here today to tell you, that it’s time to pick a side,” Quaid said, donning a red MAGA and blue t-shirt in a fiery address, “Are we gonna be a nation that stands for the Constitution or for TikTok?”

Quaid compared the current year to the 1980 election, when Ronald Reagan took office during a period of high inflation and low national morale. “Reagan is my favorite president of the 20th century,” Quaid said, “Donald Trump is my favorite president of the 21st century. Dennis attended the event with his actor brother, Randy Quaid, who is also an avid supporter of Trump.
Starring Dennis Quaid as Ronald Reagan, the biopic delves into the life of a man who triumphed over adversity, supported steadfastly by his wife, Nancy, portrayed by Penelope Ann Miller. The film’s engaging narrative, coupled with Quaid’s captivating performance, serves as a poignant tribute to one of America’s most esteemed leaders. Women’s rights in sports advocate Riley Gaines noted on X: “Just finished the Reagan movie. The whole theater burst into applause when it finished. Not a single person left during the credits where they showed actual pics of Reagan throughout his life. No one was more dedicated to fighting communism than Ronald Reagan. Go see it!”
