In a week marked by controversy, Brittany Mahomes, wife of NFL superstar and Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has remained in the spotlight and stood firm against her critics. A seemingly innocuous social media interaction thrust her into intense public scrutiny, but Brittany has responded by delivering a robust message about tolerance and disagreement in today’s polarized climate.
The drama began when Brittany liked an Instagram post shared by former President Donald Trump on August 13. The action, though minor, sparked a significant backlash across social media, drawing both sharp criticism and support. In response to the backlash, Mahomes addressed her critics on her Instagram Stories on August 23, suggesting that they had “deep-rooted issues” and leaving the details of her grievances intriguingly vague.
“I mean honestly, to be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood. There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well,” she wrote on Instagram.
But the story didn’t end there. As the digital outcry persisted, Mahomes felt compelled to address her previous statement. On Monday, she escalated her defense in another Instagram Story post. This time, she shared a message originally posted by another user that said, “Contrary to the tone of the world today….you can disagree with someone, and still love them. You can have differing views, and still be kind.” To emphasize her agreement, she simply responded to the post with: “Read that again!”
Former Democratic congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who switched to Independent, has endorsed Trump in the 2024 presidential race against Vice President Kamala Harris. “We as Americans must stand together to reject this anti-freedom culture of political retaliation and abuse of power. We can’t allow our country to be destroyed by politicians who will put their own power ahead of the interests of the American people, our freedom, and our future,” Gabbard said at the National Guard conference in Detroit on Monday.
Gabbard endorsed the anniversary of the suicide bombing that killed 13 U.S. service members after the chaotic Afghanistan War withdrawal. “I am proud to stand here before you today, whether you’re a Democrat, a Republican or an Independent,” Gabbard, a veteran and current U.S. Army Reserve officer, said. “If you love our country, as I do, if you cherish peace and freedom as we do, I invite you to join me in doing all that we can to save our country and elect President Donald J. Trump and send him back to the White House to do the tough work of saving our country and serving the people.”
Gabbard, who represented Hawaii’s 2nd congressional district as a Democrat from 2013 to 2021, left the party in 2022, criticizing it as an “elitist cabal of warmongers.” After running against Kamala Harris in the 2019 Democratic presidential primary, Gabbard has now been brought on by Trump to assist with debate preparation for his upcoming September 10 debate against Harris at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.
Since switching her party affiliation before the 2022 midterms, Gabbard has been a vocal critic of the Democratic Party. She has spoken at conservative events, including the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and the Faith and Freedom Coalition Road to Majority Conference.
