Another stunning video has resurfaced that Vice President Kamala Harris is no doubt wishing that it hadn’t, and it concerns statements she made regarding the disastrous and deadly U.S. pullout from the nation’s longest war in Afghanistan three years ago this month.
The swift withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan in 2021 was marred by tragedy, including the death of 13 service members at Kabul’s airport when a suicide bomber detonated his vest among a crowd desperate to board the last evacuation flights. The harrowing images of locals clinging to departing aircraft captured global attention, putting President Biden on the defensive over the hurried exit. Vice President Harris supported his decisions, previously telling CNN’s Dana Bash that she was the “last person in the room” with Biden as he considered the decision to pull out the way he did, in opposition to his top military commanders who wanted instead to pull out from Bagram Air Field.
“President Biden always said that he wants you to be the last person in the room, particularly for big decisions just as he was” under former President Barack Obama, Bash stated in a sit-down interview with Harris shortly after the withdrawal from Afghanistan. “Were you the last person in the room?” she asked the veep. “Yes … Yes, I do,” Harris replied when asked if she was “comfortable” with the decision.

Harris’s previous statements are resurfacing as she campaigns for president now, following the Taliban’s display of U.S. military equipment abandoned during the Afghanistan withdrawal this week. Videos released by the group show Taliban members, their faces covered, driving military trucks and flying Mi-17 helicopters, a Russian design built specifically for Afghanistan and many of which were supplied by the U.S. Social media users who shared the footage cautioned that this equipment could soon lead to renewed conflicts in the Middle East, potentially enabling the Taliban or other groups to carry out significant acts of terrorism.
Former President Donald Trump has sharply criticized Biden’s decision to withdraw troops so abruptly. “Biden’s botched exit from Afghanistan is the most astonishing display of gross incompetence by a nation’s leader, perhaps at any time,” Trump said at the time, adding he felt an exit was necessary but criticizes the way his former opponent went about it. “This is not a withdrawal. This was a total surrender.”

Meanwhile, a California sheriff who was featured in a new ad touting Harris’s alleged toughness on illegal immigrants while serving as a prosecutor and state attorney general is lashing out at the vice president, claiming she used his likeness without his permission and completely out of context.
“In light of a recent political ad put out by Kamala Harris featuring Sheriff [Mike] Boudreaux, as well as other local law enforcement, the Sheriff wants to make it abundantly clear that his image is being used without his permission, and he does NOT endorse Harris for President or any other political office,” said Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux in a statement sent to Fox News Digital.
Boudreaux has dedicated 37 years to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office and currently holds the position of president of the California State Sheriffs’ Association. The video footage featured in the political ad was recorded in 2013 in California’s Central Valley during Harris’s tenure as the California attorney general. The ad attempts to portray Harris as a hawk, claiming that, “as Vice President, she backed the toughest border control bill in decades.”
Boudreaux called the day Harris visited in 2013 “smoke and mirrors.” “We were in the green room. She never came in and said hello to any of us. She walked up front, gave her presser, literally walked out, never said hi to any of us,” said Boudreaux. “I’m disgusted because, you know, she didn’t shake hands. She didn’t say hello. And she’s taken credit for all this work that the locals did.”
“As Attorney General, Kamala Harris undercut efforts by California law enforcement officials to stop criminals from flooding our state with guns and drugs across the border,” the sheriff wrote. “She repeatedly defunded and shuttered task forces designed to protect our residents, leaving the Valley and our state vulnerable,” he continued. “Kamala’s sad attempt to paint herself as tough on the border by implying my support – and the support of neighboring law enforcement leaders – is pathetic.”
