Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., is not happy with the mainstream media’s reaction to Vice President Kamala Harris becoming the presumptive Democratic Party nominee after President Biden suspended his re-election campaign last week. “Down here in Florida, it’s hot in July, and it’ll be hot in August, but you’re going to see a blizzard of lies over the next few months,” he told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo during this week’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”
“There’s not going to be any pushback from the entrenched corporate media, and they’re going to try to re-rewrite history, and they’re going to try to present her [Harris] as something that she’s just not,” he continued. Earlier in the segment, the onetime 2024 GOP presidential contender who readily endorsed Trump after he dropped out of the race linked Harris to Biden’s policies as half of the “Biden-Harris administration.”
“The media really worked hard to push Biden out, and now you see all the arteries of the left – the corporate media, Hollywood, academia, they’re using all the king’s horses and all the king’s men to try to put the Democratic Party back together again, and they have to whitewash Harris’ background to be able to make her palpable to the American people, but I think we’ve all seen her. She’s incredibly vapid, even more incredibly liberal, and she doesn’t have any accomplishments. In fact, she owns all the policies of the Biden-Harris administration. She owns the border, she owns the inflation.”
Harris has been in the media spotlight since replacing Biden as the presumptive nominee. After Biden announced the end of his re-election bid last Sunday, Republicans have raised concerns about her stance on several key issues. This includes her past support for banning fracking and her handling of the border issue. Republicans have also criticized the mainstream media for allegedly attempting to rebrand her as she prepares to compete against former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election.
DeSantis added: “Now that he’s [Biden’s] out, if we had to pick someone, I think we would pick Harris because she owns all the policies, she’s not going to be able to distance herself from them, and most Americans think this country’s going in the wrong direction. I think ultimately, truth is going to prevail, but the one thing we do have to acknowledge [is] Biden set the bar so low… he couldn’t even deliver a sentence. Now you take somebody like Harris who’s not exactly lighting the world on fire, but Biden makes her look like Socrates just because we’re so used to him not even being able to do anything. Now you have somebody who’s younger, so we’re in for a battle here.”
Harris will have a tough, if not impossible, time separating herself from her boss’s unpopular policies. Strong majorities of Americans blame Harris, the presumptive Democratic nominee for the 2024 presidential election, for outgoing President Biden’s policies, according to polling exclusively obtained by Breitbart News.
The Senate Opportunity Fund surveyed 800 likely voters between July 22 and July 24, inquiring about Democrats’ transition from Biden to Harris. The most intriguing aspect of the findings is the minimal variance in perception among voters regarding the real policy achievements of Harris and Biden. Additionally, the survey breaks down its participants into “contested states,” with a total of 511 likely voters in this category. On a national level, the survey’s margin of error stands at 3.5 percent, while in contested states, it increases to 4.3 percent.
The slide deck containing the remarkable findings from this study was given only to Breitbart News before it was made public, and what follows is definitely going to stir up worry among Democrats who were counting on Harris being their candidate to help their party get back on the right path. It seems the opposite is happening, and Democrats are in a very difficult position following Biden’s withdrawal from the race on Sunday — and Harris isn’t the rescue they had hoped for, said the outlet.
When asked if they agreed or disagreed with this statement — “Kamala Harris’ record is the Biden Administration’s record over the last 4 years” — a staggering majority of 68 percent of respondents agreed. Only 19 percent disagreed, and 13 percent had no opinion or did not know. Similarly, when likely voters were asked if they agreed or disagreed with this statement — “In terms of policy, Kamala Harris is no different than Joe Biden” — a stunning 66 percent agreed, while only 27 percent disagreed.
