On Thursday, six Democrats in the House voted in favor of a resolution criticizing President Joe Biden’s administration and Vice President Kamala Harris for their “failure to secure the United States border.”
H.Res. 1371, introduced by Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik, formally denounced “Border Czar” Kamala Harris for her immigration policy following her role in reducing illegal immigration along the southern border during the early days of the Biden administration. The House approved the resolution with most Democrats voting against it but a half-dozen joining 214 Republicans in supporting it.
“By every metric, Kamala Harris has failed to secure our borders, instead advancing Far Left Democrats’ failed open border policies and the needs of illegal immigrants over the safety of Americans. My resolution condemns Kamala Harris’ role as Joe Biden‘s open border czar and affirms that the American people deserve elected officials who understand the gravity of the crisis at the border and will work to secure the border,” Stefanik, of New York, noted on X in a post that contained a video of her House floor speech.

Democratic Reps. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington, Mary Sattler Peltola of Alaska, Jared Golden of Maine, Donald Davis of North Carolina, Henry Cuellar of Texas, and Yadira Caraveo of Colorado voted in favor of the resolution.
“Kamala Harris, every elected Democrat, and their stenographers in the mainstream media will run from their record, but they can’t hide,” Stefanik said. “House Republicans will hold Kamala Harris accountable for her role as Biden’s Border Czar leading to the most catastrophic border crisis in modern history.”
The Biden-Harris administration has seen a significant increase in illegal immigration. Since taking office, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has encountered nearly eight million migrants, with over 83,000 encounters at ports of entry along the southern border in June alone, according to CBP data. Biden tasked Harris with tackling the already worsening immigration and border security problem in March 2021, less than two months after he took office.
In June, a Maryland sheriff blasted Biden, Harris, and Congress during an emotional speech on Monday after an illegal alien was arrested for allegedly killing a mother of five children. Rachel Morin was raped and then murdered while on a hiking trail last year, and authorities finally arrested the suspect, El Savador-born Victor Antonio Martinez, late last week.
“Rachel was not his first victim, and it is my understanding that this suspect, this monster, fled to the United States illegally after committing the brutal murder of a young woman in El Salvador a month earlier in January of 2023. once in our country and likely emboldened by anonymity, he brutally attacked a nine-year-old girl and her mother during a home invasion in March of 2023 in Los Angeles,” Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said. “And as everyone, as I believe is aware, that was our first DNA match linking Rachel’s case to the Los Angeles case. It has been a fear of mine that once we identified this suspect, the result would be exactly this.”
Fox News added:
Morin’s naked and beaten body was found in a culvert on Aug. 6 after the 37-year-old had gone missing the day before while out on the Ma and Pa Trail in Bel Air, a quiet and typically safe town about 28 miles northeast of Baltimore.
Gahler said that Martinez Hernandez was free to roam all over the U.S. having entered the country illegally in February 2023, about a month after he was wanted in El Salvador for homicide. Police linked Martinez Hernandez’s DNA to a March home invasion in Los Angeles where a mother and her 9-year-old daughter were assaulted.
“I want to now direct these comments to 1,600 Pennsylvania Avenue and to every member in both chambers of Congress. We are 1800 miles away from the southern border, and the American citizens are not safe because of failed immigration policies,” Gahler said.
“This is the second time in just two years that an innocent Harford County woman has lost her life to a criminal in our country illegally. Let me repeat that, 1,800 miles from the Southern border and this is the second woman in our county to be killed by an illegal alien. In both cases, they are suspects from El Salvador with ties to criminal gangs. This should not be happening,” he noted further.
