According to a recent New York Times poll, former President Donald Trump has taken the lead over President Joe Biden among two critical voter demographics that were key to Biden’s 2020 victory. Trump is now ahead among Hispanic voters with 50% compared to Biden’s 41%, and also leads among young voters aged 18-29, with 48% support to Biden’s 40%.
In contrast, during the 2020 election, Biden secured 65% of the Hispanic vote and had a significant advantage over Trump among younger voters, winning those aged 18-24 by 34 points and those aged 25-29 by 11 points, according to CNN’s exit polls. Trump was ahead of Biden with 49% to 43% among likely voters and led by eight points among registered voters in the NYT poll. In the 2020 popular vote, Biden secured 51.31% to Trump’s 46.86%.

The Daily Caller adds:
Biden currently trails Trump by 2.5% in a national head-to-head matchup, according to the RealClearPolling average of polls, with Trump’s lead growing to 4.2% when independent candidates Cornel West, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Green Party candidate Jill Stein are included in the surveys. Biden led Trump by 8.8% in the RealClearPolitics average on July 3, 2020.
Biden’s age and mental fitness were issues dogging the president’s campaign before Thursday night’s debate. On multiple occasions, Biden said he spoke with people who had died, including claiming on Feb. 8 to have spoken with former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl about the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol, even though Kohl died in 2017, three days after he claimed to have spoken with former French President Francois Mitterrand, who passed away in 1996.
Trump’s campaign said that it raised $331 million in the second quarter of the year, surpassing the reported $264 million raised by President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign and the Democratic National Committee over the same period. This narrows the cash advantage previously held by Biden and could undermine his efforts to reassure his party after the widely criticized debate performance last week, which has led to calls for him to withdraw, The Associated Press reports.
“Trump’s total includes $111.8 million that the campaign says it raised in June. That sum is less than the $127 million Biden reported raising last month, which includes more than $33 million on the day of the debate and in its aftermath,” the AP report said. “But Trump’s campaign reports that it ended the quarter with $284.9 million cash on hand, compared with $240 million reported by Biden.”
Trump campaign senior advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles said in a statement: “President Trump’s campaign fundraising operation is thriving day after day and month after month. This fundraising momentum is likely to grow even more as we head into a world-class convention and see the Democrats continue their circular firing squad in the aftermath of Biden’s debate collapse.”
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), the campaign arm of the House Republican Conference, announced last month that it had raised a “record-shattering $12.6 million” in May. In an emailed press release, the NRCC highlighted a “committee record” for May of an election year, surpassing the previous record set by the rivaling Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) of $11.9 million in May, Breitbart News reported.
“Growing the majority is a team effort, and we smashed this fundraising record with the help of everyday Americans and our incredible leadership team,” said NRCC Chairman Richard Hudson (R-NC) before taking aim at the far left. “Families don’t feel physically or financially secure with extreme Democrats running the country; they’re opening up their wallets to ensure there is no chance Democrats continue to wreak havoc on their daily lives next year.”
The NRCC received a significant boost at the end of the month following the verdict in former President Donald Trump’s Manhattan business records trial on May 30. According to Punchbowl News, it raised $300,000 on the day of the conviction, marking the best online fundraising day of the cycle. For comparison, on the day that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) secured the gavel, the committee raised $175,000.
