After more than a year of talking about who his running mate could or would be, former President Donald Trump told reporters following a rally in Philadelphia on Saturday he has made his choice. NBC News reporter Jake Traylor noted that Trump has made his selection but he has yet to inform the perton. He added that the candidate will be present at next week’s presidential debate between Trump and President Biden.

For weeks, it has been reported that Trump has narrowed his shortlist for vice president to a few names. These include Senator JD Vance (R-OH), Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Dr. Ben Carson, and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum. His campaign had been vetting candidates and had sent them all vetting materials. He has said he planned to name his choice next month at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
The Trump campaign has fueled interest and speculation about the former president’s running mate. While the names on the shortlist have been widely reported, insiders have indicated that several “dark horse candidates” are also in consideration. These include Arkansas
