Former Fox News star Tucker Carlson has never been into politics except as a journalist covering elections and Washington, but the conservative-leaning star is about to make some changes in that department, to a degree.

The former Fox News host announced on Thursday that he plans to take his one-man show on the road beginning in September. This move will elevate his profile and influence in the final months before November’s election. The Western Journal reported that a promotional video from Carlson promised fireworks, prominent guests, and plenty of controversy. “The one thing we know for certain is the United States is going to be one intense place this fall moving into this presidential election,” he said in the 48-second clip. “So we thought, what better time to hit the road and see the country.”

“Tucker Carlson Live” will begin in Arizona on September 4th and will feature comedian Russell Brand, known for his vocal opposition to lockdown mandates during the pandemic. The tour will also visit other states including Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, as well as California, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, and Utah.

On September 7th, Carlson will appear alongside Glenn Beck at Salt Lake City’s Delta Center. This event will give Utahans a chance to see two conservative heavyweights share their predictions about the future of the MAGA movement and how Election Day will go for former President Donald Trump. Other guests will include Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Infowars founder Alex Jones, according to Deseret News.

Since his tenure in the White House, Trump has maintained a friendly relationship with Tucker Carlson, who was even suggested as a potential vice presidential candidate by former First Lady Melania Trump. Carlson, in turn, has frequently used his media platform to address issues important to Trump, including the January 6th, 2021, Capitol riots.

Following the Republican takeover of Congress in 2023, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) fulfilled a commitment to provide Carlson with 20,000 hours of previously unreleased footage related to the riots. Carlson subsequently produced a documentary that suggested FBI involvement and aimed to exonerate Trump from any responsibility for the violence that occurred.

The Journal reported that additional guests scheduled to appear during the tour include Vivek Ramaswamy, Tulsi Gabbard, Glenn Beck, Dan Bongino, Megyn Kelly, Alex Jones, Kid Rock, Charlie Kirk, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Roseanne Barr, and Donald Trump Jr. Chadwick Moore, a documentarian who wrote Carlson’s latest biography, recalled how the brash host was focused on reevaluating J6 as an opportunity for opponents of Trump to lay the blame at his feet.

“Jan. 6 was a violent insurrection they tell us — and on the basis of that claim, they’ve turned the war on terror against America’s own citizens,” Moore said, describing a monologue Carlson planned to give on his Fox show shortly before he was fired. “We believe that is a false characterization, as we’ve said many times. Jan. 6 was not an insurrection, which is why no one has been charged for that crime. No guns were brought into the Capitol. No plans to overthrow the government have ever been found.
