Former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe claimed that several high-ranking FBI personnel plan to leave the country if former President Donald Trump is re-elected in November.
McCabe, who currently works as an analyst for CNN, informed network host Kaitlin Collins that members of the intelligence community are concerned about potential prosecution for their involvement in various hoaxes. These include the “Russian collusion” claim and the false labeling of Hunter Biden’s laptop as “Russian disinformation” just before the 2020 election.
“It’s terrifying. It’s frightening,” McCabe told the host. The former assistant director pointed to one of Trump’s rally quotes in which he claimed he would be “retribution” for disenfranchised American voters, predicting that it would culminate in “really dismantling and greatly incapacitating the Department of Justice and the FBI.”
McCabe stated that Trump’s comments deeply worry the intelligence community. He went on to say that he was told by former colleagues who worked under the Obama Administration that they’ve had “torturous discussions with their family members about whether or not they have to leave the country to avoid being unconstitutionally and illegally detained.” He added: “I mean, people are actually worried about being thrown in jail or grabbed in some sort of extrajudicial detention.”
McCabe served as deputy director under former FBI Director James Comey during the agency’s investigation into alleged “collusion” between Trump and the Russian government. A years-long independent investigation led by Special Counsel John Durham concluded that the investigation was initiated without merit.
Intelligence officials were found to have initiated unwarranted investigations into low-level Trump aides, such as Carter Page, and subsequently leaked details to mainstream media outlets to lend credibility to the Russian collusion probe. The investigation also relied on the thoroughly debunked Steele dossier, which was funded by the Clinton campaign.

Intelligence officials also played a significant role in downplaying the bombshell Hunter Biden laptop story released by the New York Post just weeks before the 2020 election. Current Secretary of State Anthony Blinken approached former acting CIA Director Mike Morell to assist in suppressing the game-changing story.
Morrell was able to solicit signatures from 51 former intelligence officials who claimed the laptop contained “hallmarks of a Russian disinformation campaign.”The fabricated letter was subsequently used by mainstream media outlets and social media companies to suppress the damaging story.
