Politico has published a damaging exposé detailing President Joe Biden’s inner circle’s alleged complicity in his family’s foreign influence peddling. The report serves as a rebuttal to staunch Democrats who deny that Joe Biden and his aides had knowledge of or participated in the Biden family’s foreign influence schemes.
Ben Shreckinger, the writer, directly confronts the Biden administration’s denials of involvement in illegal business schemes:
For years, Joe Biden shared a bookkeeper with his son, Hunter. He also shared a personal lawyer with his brother, Jim. And when Jim Biden wanted to know more about one of Hunter Biden’s associates, he hired the former head of Joe Biden’s Secret Service detail to investigate. Since 2019, Joe Biden has repeatedly distanced himself from his family’s business dealings, saying that he has never so much as discussed them with his relatives or with anyone else.
But House impeachment inquiry interviews, public records and emails reviewed by POLITICO show that members of his inner circle were regularly enmeshed in those dealings: Many of the president’s closest staffers and advisers have doubled as his relatives’ business associates, both during and after their stints working for the man at the center of the Biden family orbit.
These overlaps highlight a family-centric approach to business and politics that dates back half a century to the president’s first Senate bid, which was primarily managed by his parents and siblings. Over the years, his political supporters have occasionally established business connections with his relatives, who have, in turn, converted some of their business associates into campaign supporters.
This is exactly why I filed articles of impeachment on Joe Biden on his first full day in office.
He has abused his position of power to personally enrich himself and his family for years.
There is no bigger scandal in American politics.

Throughout his long public career, some of the president’s aides have taken on roles as surrogate members of the close-knit Biden family, the outlet explained. It added: “The Bidens’ approach complicates their efforts to distance the president from his family’s ventures.” The report also names Biden assistants who functioned as go-betweens between Joe Biden, James Biden, and Hunter Biden. POLITICO also provided this graphic to demonstrate the interconnectivity of the Biden family and their aides and associates:
These intermediaries include Eric Schwerin, who served as Joe Biden’s personal bookkeeper and was Hunter Biden’s business partner; Mel Monzack, who acted as a personal attorney for both Joe and Jim Biden; Fran Person, who, as Joe Biden’s body man, sought to involve Hunter Biden in Chinese real estate ventures; White House physician Kevin O’Connor, who was also Joe Biden’s doctor during his vice presidency and pursued a potential health care deal with Jim Biden in 2017; and Dale Pupillo, who oversaw Joe Biden’s Secret Service detail during his vice presidency and later worked as a private investigator for Jim Biden.

The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, along with the Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees, issued criminal referrals for Hunter Biden and James Biden on Wednesday afternoon. Led by Chairmen James Comer (R-KY), Jim Jordan (R-OH), and Jason Smith (R-MO), the referral accuses the President’s son and brother of making false statements to Congress. This raises the level of scrutiny regarding the alleged influence-peddling activities of the Biden family.
“Our investigation has revealed President Biden knew about, participated in, and benefited from his family cashing in on the Biden name around the world,” said Rep. Comer. “Despite this record of evidence, President Biden continues to lie to the American people about his involvement in these influence-peddling schemes. It appears making false statements runs in the Biden family.”
