Former President Donald Trump’s campaign made a stunning announcement less than a day after a jury in Manhattan claimed he was somehow guilty of crimes that federal and state prosecutors for years mysteriously couldn’t see.

The Trump campaign announced on Friday morning that it had received a massive $34.8 million in small-dollar donations within the first 24 hours, with more donations expected. This puts the campaign on track to surpass the $10 million raised by President Joe Biden’s campaign after his 2024 State of the Union speech.

Online conservative personality Alex Bruesewitz, who maintains close ties to Trump’s inner circle, was effusive in praising the MAGA faithful for rising to the occasion. “TRUMP SHATTERS FUNDRAISING RECORDS AFTER RIGGED BIDEN TRIAL VERDICT,” he wrote on X. “30% of it came from first time Trump donors. THE AMERICAN PEOPLE SEE THROUGH THE BS!”

The Trump campaign noted in a statement, “Crooked Joe Biden and the Democrats with their election interference political witch hunt have awakened the MAGA movement like never before.”

Throughout the 2020 election cycle, the combined efforts of Donald Trump’s official campaign and associated super PACs amassed and utilized over $1 billion, as reported by OpenSecrets. Since the commencement of 2023, marking his third bid for the presidency, his campaign has gathered approximately $120 million, Voice of America notes. However, the campaign’s financial reserves have seen a decrease due to the substantial sums expended on legal defenses amid his criminal trials.

Fundraising efforts for Trump witnessed a significant uptick in April, with his campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC) jointly announcing a raise of $76 million. This surge in contributions came shortly after Lara Trump, his daughter-in-law, assumed the role of co-chair for the RNC, which reported a similar fundraising achievement in March.

In a notable shift, former adversaries such as Ron DeSantis are now supporting Trump, with the Governor of Florida pledging to secure $10 million in fundraising for his erstwhile competitor. “I think we believe Biden needs to be beat, and the governor is willing to put the sword down,” a top DeSantis adviser told NBC News. “They have had several good conversations as recently as last week.” Additionally, the AP reported that Trump made a call to a donor retreat organized by DeSantis in April, during which the two exchanged compliments.
