Former President Donald Trump has made a stunning prediction about President Joe Biden ahead of at least two debates the two sides have agreed to before the November election. Trump discussed the possibility during an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt that Democrats might remove Biden from the 2024 election ticket, especially if Biden’s apparent “infirmity” worsens, as some expect it will with age.
Trump’s comments came as he accepted Biden’s debate challenge. The challenge was presented in a 14-second video that included five jump cuts, suggesting multiple takes were needed for Biden to complete the statement. Trump agreed to participate in two debates with Biden, one in early summer and another in early fall.
Posting his acceptance to the debate challenge on Truth Social, Trump said, “It is my great honor to accept the CNN Debate against Crooked Joe Biden, the WORST PRESIDENT in the History of the United States and a true Threat to Democracy, on June 27th. Likewise, I accept the ABC News Debate against Crooked Joe on September 10th. Thank you, DJT!”
Hewitt, broaching the debate subject during his interview with former President Trump, asked about the acceptance. He asked, “President Biden just issued you a debate challenge for June and September with the veeps talking in July. Do you accept?”
“Oh, absolutely. I’ve been trying to get, you know, he’s issuing it. I wonder whether or not he shows up because, you know, he also challenged me to golf. So I’m a very good golfer. He can’t hit a ball 50 yards,” Trump replied. “He said I’ll give him three a side, but he knows he’ll never play. This is sort of like that, I think. But I hope not because I really think he has to debate.”
Trump joked that Biden probably prefers earlier debates, as he’s not getting any sharper mentally. Trump said, “He might as well get it over with, probably should do it early so that he can, you know because he’s not going to get any better. … Every day is a down factor for him.”
Hewitt then asked if the Democrats might get rid of Biden if his “infirmity” gets worse. He asked, “Do you think if his infirmity increases, they will dump him, Mr. President, at the convention, replace him with Kamala or [California Gov. Gavin] Gavin or someone like that?” Trump said, “I do. I do.” He added, “I don’t think they’ll have a choice.”
