It appears as though the vast majority of elected Republicans are now coalescing around Donald Trump as the former president faces persecution from a weaponized Joe Biden Justice Department and as a new survey provided a stunning result.
One notable GOP official seen as a rising star in the party is Virginia Gov. Glenn Younkin, who sang Trump’s praises during a CNN interview on Sunday from Germany, talking with Dana Bash on CNN’s “State of the Union” while discussing the importance of his state deepening its ties with other countries.
“Global economic strength is national security. And it’s critically important for us to have deep relationships with our trusted allies,” he told the host. “I think we have done a great job in the Commonwealth of Virginia in bringing companies to Virginia, but also developing relationships around the world. Last year, I was in Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea, and now I’m going to be in Germany, in Denmark, in Finland.”
“And it’s an incredibly important opportunity for us to deepen these relationships,” he continued. “And I think it also represents the fact that our economy is not performing as it should be. I mean, the reality is, we have low growth and high inflation. It should be flip-flopped. We should have low inflation and high growth.”
He added, “And it’s part of our economic mission to build that. I do think President Trump built that when he was president. I think we’re suffering under Joe Biden’s leadership economically. Virginia has done incredibly well over the last couple of years, as we have rebounded aggressively, with more people working than ever. And I’m going to continue to work to bring jobs to Virginia, but also to make sure we have great relationships around the world.”

Youngkin’s singing of Trump’s praises comes as CNN dropped a shocking poll over the weekend showing Trump well ahead of Biden. According to a survey conducted by SSRS for CNN, Trump surpassed Biden by a significant 6-point margin (49–43 percent), a difference well beyond the margin of error, while 8% of respondents remained undecided. Previously, Trump had held narrower leads over Biden or had been nearly tied with him, as indicated by RealClearPolitics’ polling averages.
“And in the coming rematch, opinions about the first term of each man vying for a second four years in the White House now appear to work in Trump’s favor, with most Americans saying that, looking back, Trump’s term as president was a success, while a broad majority says Biden’s has so far been a failure,” the polling firm said in an analysis of its survey data.
“Republicans now are more unified around the idea that Trump’s presidency was a success than Democrats are that Biden’s has been one. Overall, 92% of Republicans call Trump’s time in office a success, while just 73% of Democrats say Biden’s has been a success so far. Among independents, 51% say Trump’s presidency was successful, while only 37% see Biden’s as a success,” the analysis continued.
