Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has been taking flak from legal experts on both the left and the right over his ‘hush money’ criminal case against former President Donald Trump, but a new report that dropped on Friday following the trial’s first week is even more damning.
According to a Friday CNN poll, only 13 percent of respondents believe that Trump is being treated the same as other “criminal defendants.” The survey result seems to support Trump’s assertion that the attempts to financially ruin him and imprison him are politically motivated by the White House, Breitbart News reported.
“This is a witch hunt and it’s a shame and it comes out of Washington,” Trump told reporters on Monday. “It’s in coordination with Washington, everything, including the DA’s office; it’s in coordination with Washington.”
- 34 percent said Trump is being treated more harshly than other defendants
- 34 percent said Trump is being treated more leniently than other defendants
- 19 percent said they had not heard enough to say
- 0 percent had no opinion
Also, the survey found that a majority of Americans were not confident in a fair outcome for the president:
- Only 44 percent had confidence in the jury chosen for the case to “be able to reach a fair verdict”
- 56 percent were skeptical that a “fair outcome is in the cards”
Trump took to his Truth Social platform on Friday to denounce Biden and address the fact that he can’t talk about certain things happening in his life at the moment like the hush money trial in Manhattan because he’s under a nearly unprecedented gag order from the judge.
He wrote: 45th President Donald J. Trump is again the Republican Nominee for President of the United States, and is currently dominating in the Polls. However, he is being inundated by the Media with questions because of this Rigged Biden Trial, which President Trump is not allowed to comment on, or answer, because of Judge Juan Merchan’s UNPRECEDENTED AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL Gag Order. His Opponents have unlimited rights to question, but he has no right to respond. There has never been a situation like this in our Country’s History, a Candidate that is not allowed to answer questions.
Even Crooked Joe Biden is talking about the Sham Case, and others inspired by his Administration. We request that Judge Merchan immediately LIFT THE GAG ORDER, so that President Trump is able to freely state his views, feelings, and policies. He is asking for his Constitutional Right to Free Speech. If it is not granted, this again becomes a Rigged Election!
